From FB:

Oct. 12, 1973 - Pocatello and northern Utah
In 1968, Douglas Brick graduated from Pocatello High School as a top scholar student. Brick was a National Merit Letter of Commendation winner, a member of the Boys Council, Key Club, and German Club. He was also a delegate to Boys' State.
Brick had plans for college in Utah. After high school graduation, Brick met up with an old friend in Pocatello while driving truck on an Ogden to Pocatello route. He admitted he'd dropped out of college and wanted to start a new life. He didn't want others to know about his job.
Brick disappeared afterwards, not showing up to work and leaving his belongings behind in Utah.
Brick was the son of Harold and Donna Halliwell Brick. His father Harold died in 1964. His mother has also passed. Several memories of Brick have been shared with me by those who knew him in Pocatello.
Did Douglas Brick travel to South America as he once dreamed? Or did something happen to him, and he's one of our nation's unidentified John Doe cases?
He was never reported to authorities in any state. Brick would be about 71 now if alive.
His family never knew for sure. A memorial service was held on Oct. 18, 1990 in Pocatello for Brick. His mother died without knowing if her son was alive or deceased.
What really happened to Douglas Brick of Pocatello?

In reading the comments, on the FB post, it looks like he disappeared before the October 73 date. Graduated in 1968. College fell through. Would have been drafted in 1970 based on birthdate of 10/18 and a 5. Appears there are no records of him being drafted?

He definitely could have hitchhiked through Texas...any DNA to match? I don't think he's on the rule outs

There was also the part that stated he’d disappeared with a gun and shells. :(

<<“There was a lot of things going on,” Brick said. “He had some girlfriend, and he broke up with the girlfriend. We really don’t know why he just took off and disappeared.”>>

<<The website posted that Doug Brick was driving a truck that took him on a route between Ogden and Idaho.

“No, no, there’s nothing that, no, I don’t think so,” said the brother. “The only thing that I found as strange was my mother claimed she went down to clean his room. She found an empty box of bullets.”>>

<<Inside the car were found Douglas' belongings, neatly packed as if he were planning to leave.

While investigating Douglas' disappearance, it was learned that he had dropped many of his classes and closed out his savings and checking accounts. It was also learned that he had bought a gun and 500 rounds of .22 ammunition shortly before he disappeared. While searching his dorm room, one box of shells was missing.>>
