From this article, it seems that Jennifer filed for a temporary protective order in August, but the judge ruled that it was unwarranted.

She submitted videos claiming a need for the order, but the ruling stated the videos portrayed her as being 'equally confrontational'.

According to text messages also submitted, Gledhill was 'repeatedly berating, belittling, and demeaning' toward Johnson, the ruling said.

I did not expect that either. Those poor kids.

Police asked the court to deny bail to the wife as under the charges she currently faces she could spend the rest of her life in prison. They added that the informant was told that she would shoot herself before going to jail. The court agreed to deny her bail.

The kids are with the grandparents. What a tragedy

Jennifer Gledhill was charged Tuesday with the murder of Utah National Guardsman Matthew Johnson, as well as obstruction of justice, drug possession with the intent to distribute, witness tampering, and desecration of a human body.

Quite a bit of info at the link, including a timeline, all eight charges against her, and the identity of the informant she was communicating with.

KEY TAKEAWAYS
  • Jennifer Gledhill, 41, was charged Tuesday with murder and accused of killing her estranged husband, Matthew Johnson, 51, as he slept, and later disposing his body in a shallow grave.
  • Gledhill confessed the crimes to a man she was having an affair with, according to charging documents.
  • Charging documents say she was "calculating in her crimes" and arranged for her children to stay with her parents the evening Johnson was killed.

According to the the DA's office:

Gledhill told Informant that Matthew had returned to the home on September 20, 2024, and started yelling at her because he knew she had been sleeping with someone else. Gledhill told Informant that on the night of September 21, 2024, she had shot Matthew in the head with Matthew’s 9mm Glock as he slept in their shared bed. Gledhill stated that she smashed Matthew’s cell phone and hid his vehicle in a neighborhood near their house. Gledhill told Informant that she loaded Matthew’s body into a rooftop storage container, slid him down the stairs by herself, and loaded him into the back of her minivan. Gledhill stated that she had taken Matthew’s body north, dug a hole, and buried him in a shallow grave.

Seems IMO that attempt by JG to get a protective order on the now deceased husband MJ was perhaps a ruse? Likely trying to create ‘evidence’ and a basis for a split to be in her favor? And once that failed an alternate plan ensued.

As others speculate…… was JG able to move the deceased husband and dig to a shallow grave? Alone? Let’s see what happens. And wonder what story the supposed paramour will tell authorities, or others? Reminds of some of those statements by investigators on The First 48: ‘would you like to be a witness or a suspect’?

Thank you MJ for your service. And as others also stated…… the children…… SMH :( MOO

Wow!!!

No way she didn’t have help loading, moving his body, then burying him.

Also, will her parents be charged with something? They cleaned the house, got the new mattress? Really?!!

What is are the drug charges all about? This woman is unbelievable!

What a horrible story. I wonder if he was trying to save their marriage. She wanted to divorce him, made false accusations that could have led to his arrest and loosing his job, over thought the loyalty of her boyfriend, and destroyed her children's childhood.
There is no way her parents don't know what she did. I hope they are able to find his body. Perhaps then they can charge the parents for any help they provided. MOO.

It sounds like he confronted her about her affair. Seems like her BF flipped on her, and wants nothing to do with the mess. Her parents have her kids now, but it seems like they helped her clean up the house, and bought her a new mattress. If they are implicated, I wonder where the kids will go next...

An affair that Jennifer had.
Maybe it was still ongoing , idk ?

In addition -- I think she had some help.
Omo.
I agree that it seems she had to have some help. I can't imagine she was able to move his body from the bed to the truck by herself, but I guess adrenaline can increase strength. We've all read stories of someone lifting a car up during an emergency.

IANAL…..and with that said…

Am I reading these posts and reports on this murder of MJ correctly? Including e.g. post #33 from @Ladyotm ?

The parents (i.e. JG’s parents IIUC) helped clean the house? Following the murder? Might have helped arrange a new mattress - to replace the IIRC blood soaked one on which he was shot dead? What else? Who helped load the body into the bin? And move that? Who helped dig a grave (shallow or otherwise) and helped to conceal the body?

On the first two items in the preceding paragraph - how is that not ‘accessory after the fact’ to murder - at a minimum - in UT?

Also have to wonder who had advance notice of the crime to be committed? Aside from the apparent informant.

I hope authorities cast a wide net to pressure and get the facts of the case, and to help find the remains. SMH. MOO
