My first thought when I saw the clothing was of Macin Smith. But he is younger than the age estimate and he went missing from St George which is almost 300 miles away. And I have no idea how he would have ended up with $3000...
Good thought. The shoes are not right, though. They seem to have made a point that Macin was wearing "Black size 14 Nike sneakers with blue soles and green eyelets and accents." This UID had size 13 Vans. Macin's disappearance drives me bonkers. So frustrating.

eta: can anyone make out the letters on the shirt? I wish they would have mentioned what it could have possibly said.

also eta: All I can see is possibly Oregon (for U of O ducks)? But maybe it just looks that way b/c I see a lot of this particular apparel.

I've been driving myself crazy trying to figure out what the shirt says, lol. It's a Delta Apparel Pro-weight shirt: Sale | Sale | Delta Apparel
Apparently that company is a leader in the market for groups ordering blank tees in bulk in order to do their own custom screen-printing. It could be a sports team, a school, a non-profit organization, or just about anything that someone would make a custom t-shirt for. MOO.

Ermigahd - that makes it even more daunting! Good catch, though! It seems like they could have pieced it together somewhat from the scraps or at least said what letters and likely colors they could make out. It's like you can allllllmost see something there - but nope!

I believe it is Oregon and with this logo

Jac Arnold left CA in his car and was seen on CCTV in Vernal, UT:
The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)
CA - CA/UT - Jac Arnold, 38, Left San Diego in Car, Last Seen on Camera in Vernal, Utah, 16 May 2017

Jacob Hilkin's FB lists his hometown as Portland Oregon so there is also an Oregon connection

Jac Arnold FB shows he does wear shorts like these but I'm unable to find him in any Lees. He does occasionally wear a light blue bandanna in his photos (piece of blue fabric found?). It looks like he likes to be outdoors hiking? or mountain climbing maybe?

This appears to be the location where the body was found, per the coordinates in Namus/Doenetwork:

خرائط ‪Google‬‏‏

It's remote, but it's also not very far from a main road.

p.s. I don't know what everybody else is seeing, but the link posted in a funny font. It appears to go to the right map, however.

Link works for me, thank you for finding the location Carbuff! Google maps has been doing that with all their links lately. IDK why... but at least the links still work.

The coordinates in the Namus file aren't exactly right--if you enter them as posted, you get a location in Mongolia. You have to tell Googlemaps the coordinates are "N"north and "W"west.

Cross-posted from Jac Arnold's thread:

The location where the body was found is on the most direct route from San Diego to Vernal UT where Jac's car was seen on camera. But he would have gone to Vernal and doubled back:

خرائط ‪Google‬‏‏

It's not clear to me whether he was seen with the car, or just the car was seen on camera. If it's just the car, somebody could have left his body where the remains were found and then driven on through Vernal to wherever.

Lol, yep. I tried just copying and pasting and got the Mongolia location too. Thanks for figuring it out for us. :)

Maybe this design? I doubt if the original color was black, though things do fade rapidly out in the sun.

That really seems to fit but I wonder why someone would dump his body and not take the money? Could he have sold the car for $3000 and the person he sold it to was the one seen driving the car in Vernal? He did not have his name on the car registration since he just bought it himself, so the car sale could be an illegal sale or to someone else that also didn't plan to register it. Maybe he was alive when the person who bought the car last saw him? There is nothing on NAMUS that say this was a homicide, although the location and presence of a bat seem suspicious. MOO.
