I can't find any info on Lauren at all, nothing on Facebook, media, court records (though Virginia is tough as the only quick search online is for appeals court) . The only Lauren Cook missing on FB pulls up an early 2022 case of a woman who from physical description could not be the same woman.

Here’s a news article from the local news station to Franklin Co. this article says her phone last pinged near Lexington VA. Interstates 64 and 81 both run right through Lexington. She could quite literally could have been headed in any direction from there. IMO, not south or SW because she could have gotten to other interstates heading in those directions much quicker from where she lives…. Unless of course she was intentionally trying to throw off LE/her family,

Sergeant Megan Huston said families don't often go missing when both parents have custody of the children.

"Usually you see where a non-custodial parent will run off with the kids, which is not this situation," Huston said. "There is concern as to where she is at and where the kids are at after it has been over a week now since anybody has had communication with her."

Huston said Cook's husband is worried.

"He's upset, as any parent would be, of 'where are my children at,'" Huston explained. "We don't have any signs that she is in danger, but we're just trying to locate them and make sure they're safe."

It bothers me that he says he is worried about where the children are, but not his wife? Why didn’t he report them missing? Her family reported them missing. I hope she is in hiding, but it doesn’t make sense that she wouldn’t have told her family.

Thanks for this. She’s into a lot of what many would call “hippy”, alternative, new age stuff. Think Burning Man. She’s into Nahko and Medicine for the People, (friends of the Hart family), who appear to have been into the same scene.

I think it’s a peaceful scene. But once in awhile it can attract people with serious issues.

I had the same thoughts. Franklin County is adjacent to Floyd County Virginia. Floyd is home home to many hippie communities, home births, communal living.

There is an entire "railroad" of hippie communities up and down the east coast. It is easy to connect to food and housing, hosting is very common. Going North on 81 leads to many, as would Rt 64 E or W.

Its very easy to head up into the communes in WVA, remote, and usually fairly self sufficient.

All my opinion... and I've attended many covered dish dinners for travelers

Would Lexington be a normal place to go for the day from where she lives? Like, take the kids on an outing? Or on the way to somewhere she might go for the day?
Absolutely! Lexington is beautiful. There is the Natural Bridge Safari Park not far from there where you can drive through it and hand feed animals, there’s beautiful scenery there along with fairly close access to the Blue Ridge Parkway, Goshen Pass (an area to go and hike, potentially swim or just drive through it to enjoy the scenery) along with plenty of other spots. Lexington is a neat little town.

I never thought of that, took off to a commune. That's an interesting theory. Makes you wonder about the phrase "missed a meeting with family." Seemed a odd way to phrase it. Normally you see was expected and parents home, was suppose to meat sister for lunch. I took it as like a family meeting, intervention, discuss family issues.

Cook is married and lives with her husband, who shares custody of the three kids, police said.

“A lot of times you see these situations where a parent loses custody and takes the kids and runs away. This doesn’t seem to be like that.,” Sgt. Megan Huston, the department’s public information officer, told The Post.

Police are not sure whether the couple could be embroiled in some type of dispute that could have pushed Cook to flee.

There are also no records in Franklin County of any domestic violence between the pair or any 911 calls for their home.

The kids are now listed on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children’s website.

Details say they were last seen with their mother, and may be traveling in a Blue 2013 Chrysler Van with Virginia tags.

Authorities said that Lauren Cook is married and lives with her husband, both of whom share custody of the kids.
