Kafle is a nurse who has worked at INOVA hospitals as well as the UVA Health Prince William Medical Center.

She was pregnant and I have never, ever seen anybody lighter,” said friend Sunita Basnt Thapa. “You know, she was very energetic and very eager to help people – [she is] kind of person. And she is there to help everybody out.”

She vanished on July 31.

Her husband reported her missing on Aug. 5.

Police believe Kafle went missing on involuntary circumstances. This was determined because officials said it was out of her normal routine to be gone this long.

7News learned that some of Kafle's family and friends started a Facebook page called " Find Mamta Kafle Bhatt"to bring attention to this missing case. According to a recent post on the Facebook page, Kafle's friends and family are gathering in front of the Manassas Park police station "to show support for Mamta's cause."

Per this article, her husband claims to have called police to notify them Mamta was missing on Friday 8/2, but the official report wasn’t created until Monday the 5th.

RS&BBM - Wait, so did the husband report her missing on August 2nd or August 5th?

Let me guess he woke up and she was just ‘gone’…Or she went out to get something at the store and never returned. I hope I am wrong and she reappears.

Plus what does “involuntary missing” mean? Do they have some kind of evidence that she did not leave on her own. It is usually like pulling teeth to get some LE interested in a missing female over the age of 12. So why are they listing this as ‘involuntary’ so quickly. They must know something we do not.

Manassas Park Police say they conducted a welfare check at the home of a 28-year-old mother three days before she was reported missing by her husband.

Police Chief Mario Lugo confirmed to WUSA9 that on Aug. 2, his officers responded to Mamta Kafle Baht's home following concerns from her colleagues at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Naresh Bhatt reported his wife missing on Aug. 5, according to authorities.

So…

July 31 -Last seen
Aug 2 - welfare check (concerned coworkers)
Aug 5 - Husband reports her missing
Yeah, that really says it all. She had no car, was clearly absent from work (hence the welfare check), and hubby takes a week to report her missing.

The only mystery is where her body is.

When outsiders ( coworkers/friends etc) are concerned prior to a spouse being concerned speaks volumes to me. IMO. He couldn't make the search because he was taking care of a child who I'm sure a friend/family member would have so he could get out there. IMO

So, what exactly was said during that welfare check? The police went away and there was no immediate missing persons report, so he must have told them something. Did he claim that she was traveling?

Navarro said she thinks back to how her friend worked nights so that she could study nine hours a day for her nursing license exam, and she can’t believe Bhatt would ever intentionally not show up for her nursing shifts at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center with no warning.

Bhatt’s nursing mentor agreed. Sunita Basnet Thapa worked with Bhatt at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus before Bhatt transferred to a different hospital. The fellow nurse called Bhatt her “professional child” and said the two remained in contact even after she switched hospitals.

“Here’s what I know: She is a very strong lady,” Basnet Thapa said. “She is not impulsive. She would not do any self-harm, as long as I know her, and she is not the kind of person to just run away.”

Basnet Thapa said Bhatt was not only a dedicated nurse, but also a loving mother to an 11-month-old baby. She said Bhatt encapsulated the Nepali meaning of the name “Mamta”: affection and motherly love.
