The girl has a bio dad. In the absence of any other information, I would presume custody would revert to her remaining parent.

That’s probably true but it
Seems as if stepdad may have adopted her because she took his last name. Or maybe just legally had hers changed to match her mothers.
 
I am pretty sure that I read Scott Fricker has adopted her. In Virginia if the other parent hasn’t died, for a step to adopt the absent parent must sign to have their parental rights terminated. I’ve never heard of terminated parental rights being reinstated for any reason.

The obit refers to her as his stepdaughter, not his daughter, and I've searched for info that he formally adopted her and came up with nada. I'd be very interested in a link if you have one.

Also, I'm local, and grapevine rumor is bio dad. I'm presuming no adoption.

Thanks for this. I’ve been perusing links from the thread and googling and haven’t found it. If I do end up finding where I read it I’ll post, I could certainly be mistaken. Maybe I made an inference based on personal experience and the fact that MSM stated the younger brother was to be going to other family members and not the father.

I believe the younger brother was the bio child of Scott and Buckley. Half brother to the girl. So girl to bio dad and boy to Scott's relatives iirc.

He was formally charged today. He is still in hospital.
 
More news articles regarding the actual charging of the boyfriend. Based on prior remarks from LE, this must indicate he has recovered enough from his wounds to understand the charges and respond. Next we'll see if the prosecutor goes to court to have him charged as an adult.

I agree -- to early to tell. LE, investigators and the DA's office are probably just getting started to figure this thing.
 
He's now in Fairfax County Juvenile Detention Center.
