After court today, Juan and the judge with big smiles, Nurmi checking his twitter to see how he did, ignoring Jodi, big time. ha http://t.co/PyQ0rS6jVC

Wow. Thanks. JA is dragging her feet, stalling for time, in this case, talking to mitigation specialist. Until the bailiff gets her going. Meanwhile, Nurmi is looking at his phone. Barely registers when she is urged to leave. He does not care.

Juan is seen smiling in the region of his desk, conversing with someone. Judge is smiling with Mike. Business as usual.

Amazing for the likes of me, how routine this all appears.

On HLN is a Travis friend. Brint Hiatt says he was the confirmer of the rumors when Travis was found dead. He talked to Jodi. She wanted to know if Travis was okay. At the time soon after word was spreading, he still didn't know facts or make a judgment about Jodi.

Brint says he found Jodi "unsettling". He sensed and thought, even Travis sensed, the relationship with Jodi was not one with a future.

Jodi is tweeting ..

What is the monster saying?

What would you want to see first if you were on jury?

I would want to review the police tapes, and Mimi/Darryl/Lisa tapes.

I would want to review absolutely NOTHING. I'd want to vote and go home.

What is there to review? I would be so sick of this case and I can't imagine needing or wanting to review one more darn second of it.

However, in reality, doing my job as a juror, I think I would want to organize the jury instructions on a white board and then list evidence and testimony by each pertinent instruction to illustrate, on paper, so to speak, how what we heard and saw proves each element (or doesn't..except it does!!), and how much weight to give various witnesses' testimony, etc., so that anyone who may be confused or wants to be certain, can see it in black and white.

They ONLY reason at that point to review anything would be if there is confusion or dissension or uncertainty about certain testimony or whether each element of first degree murder has been proven.

I wish the red-faced guy and Maureen were not on the jury. Those are the ones I think that have troubled some of us. But I feel confident right now.

This really was a landslide case. Incredible, incredible landslide.

ETA: Juan looked VERY relaxed after the jury went off to deliberate!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SWtISPw4rjE

Hey, Mellinyce! I loved your idea of the "Justice for Travis blue paperclip charm" that you've taken to wearing everywhere. I don't have a blue ribbon either, but I found a pretty blue paperclip (shown below) and will carry it with me until the Guilty verdict comes in!

AWESOMENESS! :rockon::rockon::seeya::seeya:

:noooo: Only one drink, and don't drive! Bet #8 agrees.

Yes, and I want to apologize, genuinely to anyone I may have offended when I made the comment that the juror made a mistake. I did not realize at the time the depth and breadth of what he had done. I do understand that drinking and driving is unforgiveable and irresponsible. I recognize friends and family members here may have had tragedies in their lives due to a drunk driver and I apologize for not taking the initial report more serious.:facepalm:

Later I heard the term, extreme DUI, and I had never heard that before. I hope the jury uses the weekend to reflect, and of course if they do drink it is safely in the privacy of their own home or with someone else driving them.

I actually think the jury did a quick vote just to get a temperature and found they are already of one accord, but decided to take the weekend and some time on Monday to give the appearance that it took them longer to come to a verdict. I believe that they had an opportunity to get all of their questions answered as the testimony went along and therefore they are in a different position than most juries of other states would be. I think they will make short order of this on Monday.
:please::please:
Justice for Travis!!

One more thing: KN said heat of passion . Is he then admitting that, the linebacker charge Bell demonstrated in court, was another lie?

That was their plan all along. There really wasn't an intent to go with self defense, because it was ludicrous.

If you recall, the murderer said if she was not granted murder 2, she would drag TA through the mud. When the State called her bluff, she did exactly that. The DT team went through months or erroneous bs to get the lesser included charges. That was the idea.

They know there was no way ANY jury would buy self defense, given the irrefutable proof that she killed TA not just once, but three times. No possibility of an outright acquittal, but could 12 people buy crime of passion? Sure.

JM shot this down completely. By LAW, they should return murder one. After the first strike, whether you believe she stabbed him first or shot him first, she was LEGALLY BOUND to stop the attack. Not only didn't she call 911, but she stopped, considered his refusal to die and changed weapons. That isn't murder 2 and it certainly isn't manslaughter.

Regardless of what 12 people decide, it IS murder one. This is not in dispute. If for some bizarre reason it doesn't come back as that, it's exactly 0% the fault of the State.

Did JM use the line that she would "beg for the DP"?

No, I'm sure he is saving that for the penalty phase, where the jurors will decide DP or LWOP.

I'm really surprised at the comments re the jury not wanting to deliberate any more tonight. They've had a long week, no doubt want to gather their thoughts personally first of the last few days and come back fresh on Monday. It's easy for us to listen to the trial because we are chosing to do it, we laugh, we talk, we go off and do something else and then come back. They're probably exhausted. They are also taking this work seriously. For them being a juror must be like work and knowing they wouldn't have much time to deliberate today anyhow even if they had started, I completely understand why they are waiting til Friday.

ITA. They need some rest.

How did they find out about the gas cans? The one that was purchased by Jodi was obvious, but who told them about the other 2?

Better log off for a while. My vodkabulary gonna get me in trouble!
I'm with you all in spirit!

Tip for tomorrow's races : Don't bet on the horses!

XO.

Think of Travis's family and friends this weekend. They have waited almost five years and the day of reckoning is near. They must be drained after waiting all this time and have just endured two very emotional days of closing arguments. Now comes the slow ticking of the clock, which is blocked by it being a weekend.

Think of the jurors this weekend. Strangers who have been brought together only by civic duty to render justice. Instead of something simple like a shoplifting case which might take a day or two of jury duty, they have served on a jury for more than four months now on a capital one murder case. All these months of listening to testimony without being able to discuss the graphic images they have seen, the sordid details they have heard and some very questionable witnesses. During this time, their lives have been put on hold. They have been sent to the jury room with less than one hour left in the day, a Friday, and now must wait for Monday to come before they can do anything to resolve this case.

Tick, tock, tick, tock.

LOL... NG talking about Nurmi saying "9 days out of 10, I don't like JA"
She said, "Well I can top him, cuz 10 days out of 10, I don't like her"
hahaha

My husband says Nancy needs the fuzzy lens. "Is that what she really looks like?"

I am not sure about the death penalty. I would vote for it but I know EVERYTHING. They do not. They have to find only one what they know it court. I would indeed vote Murder 1. I think there is a lot of evidence that shows premeditation and even if they don't agree with the May date of premed, I think the instructions make it clear that premeditation can be moments.

I think that came across when she stabbed him, And had a chance to stop, when she slit his throat and had a chance to stop and then shot him...

I think there was premeditation 3 times in this case just in the act of the murder.

I'm bring this over from another thread, because IMHO, this is just great, and the smile I really needed:
