It wasn't one exact motive (which is impossible to tell in any crime because we're not mind readers) but a culmination of:

  • Jealous about the other women in Travis' life
  • Pissed about Travis bringing Mimi to Cancun
  • She was obsessed with him, hence the stalking
And ultimately (as stated in Juan's closing)... she just wanted him and couldn't have him.

Their email exchange in late May was really the turning point where Travis has had it with her, calls her a sociopath, and tells her she is the worst thing to ever happen to him. Juan brilliantly illustrated this as a point of no return, which I couldn't agree more.

Given the fact that JA already had Ryan lined up, I truly believe another reason she killed Travis was that he intended to "out" Jodi to his fellow Mormon/PPL folks as a lying, manipulative, immoral woman. In other words, he was threatening her access to her intended husband-hunting ground. I'm guessing JA would have perceived that as an intolerable threat to her happiness.

I heard it from a friend of the family who heard it directly from the Alexander's. The DUI charges brought some other issues to light apparently.

Not to be pushy or rude, but I would be VERY happy if we refrained from any public discussion about any of the jurors until this verdict is handed down. In fact, I don't really think we should discuss them period. Any public discussion, no matter how benign, makes me very nervous for any question of juror impropriety. Even after trials are long over, DT's look for any reason to have verdicts overturned. We all know they read here. No offense intended but this makes me a rather uncomfortable simply because I don't want any brouhaha to upset the pursuit of justice for Travis.

I'm sure her Lawyers have prepared her for the worst thus the birth of her Defense. How Jodi processes their attempts to spare her from the needle is another matter. IMO

Personally I hope she freaks out and starts screaming at the jury or attacking either jw or kn...and gets zapped with the electronic stun belt that is capable of giving her a 50,000 volt shock. Then she really will be shaking like a Chihuahua.

BBM

Not even the slightest bit of genuine remorse for what she did, no. None. If anything, her crocodile tears shed on cue were part and parcel of a person despondent because of her circumstance. All I needed to hear was her plaintive wail about the size of her jail cell.

She had the unmitigated gall to whinge about that when she put TA into the ground. Remorse? No. Regret? Yes. She regrets not doing a better job of getting away with it and could possibly be put to death for being a sloppy psychotic.

Well - I can't read people's minds and I'm not a psychiatrist - so it's just my observations.

I see a woman who killed her lover - in a very brutal fashion. It wasn't a good relationship - toxic in fact - and they both should have ended it long before 2008. But they didn't.

I see a tragically broken, grieving family looking for closure and justice.

And I see a prosecutor who could have taken the 2nd degree plea, had her sentenced to life, allowed the family to read their impact statements and walked away from it all ages ago.

If that had occured - I think Travis's family would be much farther on the road to healing.

I have 2 sons - can't imagine losing either of them. I would likewise be devastated beyond belief.

Nor can I imagine trying to go through the circus this trial became.

But I won't read my own personal anger onto a complete stranger and call it truth.

You arent alone...neither could I...

After months of a grueling trial, testimony was finally over. It’s time for Juan Martinez to enter the court room to begin his closing remarks. As he walked into the court room, I believe Travis was walking with him. He paused as Juan went to his seat, and looked at his family. They sat diligently through the hours of horrifying attempts to take Travis’s accomplishments away from him and ruin the memory of a man who was trying to make his way through this cruel world. He smiled at them, went one by one and touched their cheeks. “Relax” Travis whispered. “This is almost over.” An eerie calm settled over the Alexander family and friends. Samantha and Tanisha both felt his presence watching over them.
Travis walked over to the Arias family. He smiled and acknowledged them without any hostility. As he made his way through the courtroom, he paused at the defense table. Jodi sat staring forward in her seat motionless, in stark contrast to the evening he agreed to take the Calvin Klein photos in the shower. He posed one last time and when he looked back she was already moving toward him with a knife. He began to get up and fight back, but she just kept striking him. He tried to grab her arms, but instead was hurt by the knife. She backed away and he went to the sink. If he could just get his breath. He looked into the mirror in front of him. He no longer felt pain, but he couldn’t understand why Jodi just kept stabbing him. The look in her eyes was like a shark, so cold, so lifeless. He pushed away from the sink. If he could get away he could get help. He staggered down the hall and fell before he could get into the bedroom. Then everything went dark. When he regained consciousness, he looked down and could see his lifeless body being dragged by Jodi back toward the shower. His throat was cut. As she got near the shower, one of his limbs moved slightly because of a muscle reaction. Jodi pulled a pistol from her waist band and shot his head. Travis looked around and felt warm and safe. There were other people walking, sitting and talking in this beautiful place. Everyone was smiling and loving. He knew his earth life was over, but he had to watch over his precious family.
Jodi took off her glasses. She felt something or someone looking at her. Travis paused and looked at the Jennifer and Kurt. He shook his head. He knew what was coming from them. He walked over and stood in front of Judge Stephens. He was impressed with her fairness. He walked over and looked at the jury. The all looked like good people. He felt their resolve.
Travis went over and sat on the table beside Juan and Flores. While Juan was giving his closing remarks, Travis listened intently. When Juan got loud, Travis went over and put his hand on his shoulder. Juan would then quiet his voice. And when the remarks were over, Travis stood with tears in his eyes because Juan’s heart and soul went into the story he told about him and how he was slaughtered.
The next day the defense began making their closing arguments. Travis watched from where his family was seated. He knew it was going to be emotional. What could he do to lighten up the courtroom? Everyone was so intense! Nurmi was fumbling with papers trying to find an exhibit and he looked so ridiculous. Travis walked over and knocked the stack of papers to the floor. Travis laughed and looked around. He got up and went to the rear of the courtroom where a man was seated. He went into his belongings that were behind the man’s seat and pulled out his cellphone. He got the number and put it back. He then went to the defense table. Kurt’s phone was lying on the table and was turned off. Travis picked it up, turned it on and dialed the man’s cell phone. Heads turned as “Dynamite” filled the court room. Jodi looked back with her hand over her mouth. Jennifer looked around. Everyone in the court room looked on as Nurmi stopped talking and looked at the judge. The judge looked toward the man who was struggling to get the phone to stop ringing. Travis laughed out loud but no one could hear him.
“Come on you guys, now that was funny!” Travis chuckled. “That was at least as funny as making that hired-gun psychologist spill his drinking water over and over!” He went back over and sat on the divider in front of his family.
The day ended in court with Juan rearranging the mess Nurmi made trying to confuse and distract the jury from the realities. When the jury was escorted out by the two bailiffs, Travis waited for him at the table where the projector sat. He watched as Juan picked up and stacked exhibits. How was it that he was so lucky as to have had such a man prosecuting his murderer? He could hear Juan hoping in his thoughts that he had done right by Travis and the Alexander family. The family and the attorneys stayed in the court room for a while after the jury left. Travis went over to his family and whispered to them all:
“No matter what the verdict I want all of you to move on. Thank you for all you have done. I am in a good place and not everyone gets to come here. Jodi will have another day of reckoning and it will make today look like a picnic. I have to go but I will always watch over you. And let Juan know how much you appreciate how hard he tried. And tell him that he may not be six foot two, but he’s one bad-*advertiser censored* prosecutor. That’s just the way he rolls, the way he does crap.”
Juan arranged a stack of papers and thought he heard Travis speaking those words at the rear of the court room. The same words he used when he rolled his snowmobile. He smiled and looked back at the family. They were all looking at him.

I refuse to commit myself to believing thte jurors see right through the wickedness, lies and deceit of JA and will rightfully convict her of premeditated murder. The one major concern is that the majority of jurors are men and JA has "that thing." She has "it," if you will. That thing that is not seen with the naked eye but that demonic spiritual thing that captures unsuspecting individuals. She oozes that thing which permeates the environment and none of us are the wiser except those who are aware of "it." That thing is powerful and those men won't want to put that to death. They will want that thing to LIVE---and JA knows it.

:floorlaugh: I think they saw more than they wanted of that "thing", know where that "thing" has been the last 17 years, they'll take a pass on that lip sore, and give 'ol Stabby McArias the max. She's been rode hard and put up wet, don't think any male, or female wants to be closer than 50' to her! :drumroll:

Jodi's Mom should have insisted Donovan get out of the inappropriate skull tee shirt. Grannie was brought in for sympathy, but she got placed right in front next to Donovan. It looked bizarre when the camera panned to them. Then, Donovan wearing her skull tee shirt getting all chummy with Jodi's Mom was when I almost hurt my computer.

Prayers go out to Travis's Family and Friends that they will see true Justice.

Yeah poor granny! Seems to have dementia. (Not trying to say that jodies granny is mensa) In Spanish I call demensa!
Donovans tshirt improper attire! Why would Jodie's mom say anything about it!
Jodie's mom has elevator issues. I noticed how chummie Jodie's mom and Donovan have become like a little cult. I bet Donovan calls her mom. Maybe that's where the arias family stays when there for trial. I think it's terrible that now Jodie tweets that her family and friends are fasting and praying for her today. They adopt any idea that the Alexander develop. It's like mocking theirs are counterfeit.

I thought that the family wanted the DP? I think their wishes should be taken in to consideration, no?

Jodi tweeted that Juan lied many times. I wish she'd detail what the lies were.

Try not to give JA tweets the benefit of your energy. That's what I'm doing. She's pushing the public's-at-large buttons, or trying to. :twocents:
while I :scared: :ignore: :hand:

Ohhhh me too...I so want her to freak out !!!I have waited patiently for them to zapp her with the stun belt and time is running out...

Second degree is not life, IIRC it's more like 25 years...

Jodi wanted LWP-I am sure Juan asked the family wanted they wanted to do & It looks like they said no-go for the LWOP/DP

re: her going toe to toe with martinez.

arias is being presented as demure, mousy and submissive. actually, her entire defence stands on the back of the latter. however, her demeanour on the stand stands in stark contrast; not only is she able to get on the stand and argue incredibly convincingly, she also managed to out gun juan a couple of times.

of all of the witnesses, experts and otherwise, arias was far and away the best.

she's not a woman who lacks for ego or confidence.

I agree with part of what you say here, but I didn't think she was a good witness for herself. Her snark at JM didn't help her. But she certainly did prove she's no shrinking violet.

I deleted don't want to get timeout especially during verdict watch.

ETAs someone who endured DV for almost 20 years I will tell you straight out. Yes, I would have stabbed him if possible and I would have shot him, if possible. I will also tell you that once I did, in that moment that he was down, I would have ran and ran as fast as possible to get out of the house. I would have screamed and cried and screamed somemore, till someone anyone came to help. I would have screamed for help, yes for me! I would think he was still after me, yes I would. I would have ran out of there as fast as possible, been there and I know. I have never been able to overcome but that was what I was always thinking. Get out of there! Call the cops! Get help.

So, all of JA crap is all crap to me. Been there, can't go back.

Bless you for your strength and for your survival, Mare!

And that ~~~~~ JA was trying to put Travis Victor Alexander on the same level with the man who did that to you for twenty years. How dare she!!

How could she do that to Travis? How could she do that to you and your other survival sisters? All she got from him was a couple of remarks about her to his friends (he shouldn't have) and a scathing and truthful email, telling her to get out of his life.

How could she?!

And Mare, be proud of yourself every day you live!

I can say she's not remorseful and take it to the bank. Not once, ever, has she said "I'm sorry." Not ever. She said she felt ashamed, but never sorry. In fact, her DT has already filed the motion regarding her lack of remorse as a legal entity, it's a wicked read. She will never admit or show remorse, even if convicted of Murder 1. That pretty much says it all.

Exactly. Shame and remorse are not the same thing. Shame comes from anxiety about others' perception of us; it is outer-directed. Remorse is different. It is inner-directed.
