I'm feeling somewhat sick at the moment. I can't believe it's 6-6 and they feel so strongly about it. Obviously, this is where they were on Friday or the foreperson wouldn't have felt the need to "look up" his responsibilities this weekend.

I didn't read that anywhere NCB..what happened with the foreperson? :)

I agree. 6 is unbelievable. And obviously nobody wants to (or should) budge if they feel strongly in their belief.

I can't believe there are 6... I was expecting at most 1 or 2. Must be a ultra-strong personality in there believing in him being innocent. :maddening:

I hope the six guilties hold strong. Please don't let any of them back down. I'm with grit guy, with this big a split, the judge *should have* declared a mistrial outright IMO. And give this case to a different prosecutor. How BH could have screwed this up so badly is just beyond reason IMO.

I was concerned when they asked for the pic from the birthday party.

I am leaning now on hoping they don't change their minds. If they are certain enought to be evenly split, I'm afraid it would a war of endurance rather than consideration for which side would cave.

I'm with you, GG. That thought makes me sick in another way.

Given his historic past of violence against a previous woman, on a bed, his internet searches, anatomy of a knock out and head trauma, his ring collecting habits, missing shoes and clothes, hotel cameras being unplugged, moved, doors propped open on the night JY stays at a hotel, buying gas at 0527, his DNA on a rock when he said under oath he used a twig from a shrub he couldn't reach, all these coincidences, I find it hard to believe there are actually six people who can't seem to add.

So I doubt there will be any more action today. Since they were told to figure it out, it's unlikely they'll come back after lunch and say they still don't agree. Don't they have to show some effort to mediate this?

Looks to me like we will be re-living a murder trial for JY. The prosecution needs a do-over. This is so unfortunate.

I am trying to go look at if this way: even if he is re-tried at least by that point he would have spent a few years in jail. Instead of being arrested acquitted quickly and served no time at all.

He did a better job than BC even with all that blood. Unbelievable.
All that blood and not a spec in his car after hd fled the scene... That's what I would be concerned with as a juror.

Well, in BC case, we had the search on the computer. That was compelling. Unfortunately, here we do not have that obvious computer search. Plus, I believe the gas receipts were a big thing for this jury. I do not see how they can move 6 folks either way.

Wow guys. Haven't been following this trial that close but all I've heard seemed to think this was a slam dunk. 6-6 is about as deadlocked as your gonna get.

I thought that for sure leaned to guilt.

Some may have thought it was the same shirt and so if he didn't get rid of it then he must not have used it in the crime, I suppose is the thought. Add to it the cigarette and strange hair and maybe there's doubt for some.

I wasn't there so I'm not saying the 6 NG's are wrong for what they heard in the trial. I came in believing he did it and never bothered to check that opinion to evaluate the case.

Having said that, the DA's may have presented their evidence well, but simply failed to make the jury comfortable with the gaps in the evidence or the possibility of alternate scenarios. I can't believe anyone could rule JY out on the evidence (unless the irrational stance he simply wouldn't kill his wife), so I'd take it the 6 NG are not satisfied he was proven the killer to the exclusion beyond reasonable doubt of the idea of other killers (the alleged pair of people).

Judge told them to go back and try more. Now the jury wants a break. I hope they think long and hard about what they're doing. This is not a tv program but real life. This woman was brutally murdered in her own bedroom.

They need to think about this. IF he's let go, would he do this again? My vote is YES!

Oh, this is maddening.

JMHO

Thought this case would be a slam dunk. Agree Judge should go ahead and declare mistrial. WRAL reported that one of the defense attorney's winked at Pat Young - wonder if he feels confident the tide will turn in JY's favor?

They need to get someone passionate leading the state's case. Bump up David S. Bump down BH, bring in someone else who has a pulse because BH doesn't appear to have much of one and make that ADA 2nd chair.

hung jury wow. 6/6

Well, thank you, BH. This is a bad blow for the ADAs - 6/6 is a "loss" for them & a "win" for DT. It IS early, but 10-2 is one thing; 6/6 is 'way quite another. :maddening:

And the knots in LF's & MF' stomachs will just get worse. Oh, how awful for them....

This really pizzes me off.
