I'm not so shocked. I've long thought a lot of these cases where someone suddenly goes missing can be linked to the missing person committing a crime then hiding. I can't say exactly which ones without breaking the website rules but I know you all could think of quite a few without my help.

From the details coming out about the crime scene, it sounds to me like they were attempting to stage a fake suicide and ended up leaving all kinds of unintended evidence - shell casings from another gun, knife wounds and how could Davies have lived there for years and not known about the video surveillance? And leaving the holsters? At that point I think they must have just given up on their staging.

Then the disappearance seems like a second attempt at an explanation again with poor attention to detail. Bikers being very interested in a bike at the property does help but if people saw him walking right after that kind of shoots the kidnapping claim. Those people's testimony may be crucial.

All in all at this point it sounds like teenagers thinking they're smarter and harder than they actually are. Now Gabriel is being tried as an adult for Murder. He would have been better off just ringing the doorbell, shooting him and saying "he molested me".

This article comes right out and says the disappearance was staged. There was a big story in the PNW about the Bandidos and the Careaga family. Websleuths has a thread on it. Johnny Careaga was found in Tahuya which is in the same area where Davies and Yoon had been camping. Was he hoping people might believe him based on that incident?

shudder, the lowlife bikers did it. ugg. As a rider, who has many many friends in motorcycle clubs, and I am not talking BACA here, I am talking those ones people look at and think gang, scary no good criminals, including the Outlaws, I am highly offended this is the best Gabe an his family could come up with. HUGE EYEROLL. I would like to say that my MC brothers and sisters on two are not at all like what people imagine they are. And yet these impressions abound. Thank goodness LE were not buying even a lick of what this family was selling.

Davies’ father was quoted in court documents telling investigators that his son had been approached by biker friends of the victim from a “specific outlaw motorcycle club” who threatened him into stealing a certain item from the home.

He said Davies then recruited Yoon for help and the two concocted a “plot” to retrieve the unspecified item sought by the biker gang. After the 51-year-old victim was shot during the course of the break-in, he said, the bikers found Davies and “drove him around, roughing him up before releasing him,” court records state.

Not buying the biker buddies story. Not even a little bit. And isn't burglary a felony? Murder committed during the commission of a felony is 1st degree murder. It doesn't even require premeditation. And smashing his phone so LE wouldn't see what's on it? Wouldn't the phone provide evidence of the biker buddies? I call BS on that, too. He and his accomplice probably planned this whole thing via text or a messaging app.

And if simple burglary is your goal you do that during the day while your victim is at work not at 2 am when he is certain to be home. I wonder which one of these geniuses came up with the biker buddies story? jmo

The story is so bizarre that I suspect there is a hint of truth in it.

I don't believe big bad bikers would send in 16 year olds to retrieve an object from a safe, but maybe some one else did.

The kid may have been roughed up, but possibly as the victim was trying to defend himself.

I find it interesting that the were supposedly sent to retrieve an object, but this macguffin is never described.

This makes me downright mad. So many TRUE missing people who need assistance and LE ends up wasting resources on a murderer who staged his own disappearance then concocted a BS story and is now blaming the actual killing on JY. I mean I guess they needed to find GD regardless - for the murder charge - but his disappearance had so many people worried! The details will come out eventually but right now I’m just irritated. What was his plan when he went missing? Live in the woods until people conveniently forgot about the murder? Not happening. Poor planning all around, poor cover story. I hope his parents didn’t help with the staged disappearance.

All JMO.

Well ... I don't know what to think about this mess. Murdered man is GD's mom's ex boyfriend, GD's dad presenting the story of bikers threatening GD, JY's dad reported GD was involved in a murder ... GD's family loading up the RV ... I'm guessing the authorities will interview/interrogate both boys separately and out of that will come more mud ... but also some clarity. Moo

So the KIRO link above. During one of the interviews with the neighbor--4 motorcyclists are seen escorting the victims car away? Huh? Can someone explain how in the heck the police/LE would allow this?

I thought it was the Yoon's who were loading up the RV?

If it was his blood in the truck, it could have been from a nosebleed. His face didn’t look smashed but he could have given himself a bloody nose to make it look like something happened to him.
or gotten a bloody nose while the victim fought for his life. Just so poorly conceived from start to finish. I guarantee those two boys had no clue DM had installed surveillance since the time that GD lived there. MOO

The biker made me do it story from GD was just a panicked spur of the moment cover story to tell daddy once he knew LE were on to him.

I will be very curious to hear more from JY's father about what he was told that prompted him to call in about GD's involvement. I bet JY was never told about the mysterious biker buddies or the secret mission GB was roped into to collect some specific unnamed "item" from the house.

Ridiculous. The fact that GD's dad proffered that story to LE after hearing it from his son shows me his delusional wish to have his son be anything but the murderer he is.

I am betting that GD cooked this plan up to rob mom's ex boyfriend. After all, having lived there he would know what items of value or interest DM had and where they were likely to be located on the property. I believe GD convinced JY that there were cool guns and knives they could take, maybe even money in a safe. I don't think they intended to kill DM. I think they meant to rob him and he unfortunately interrupted them doing just that. Dark clothing aside, DM would probably immediately recognized GD. At that point it became a free for all and they killed DM in a panic. again all just MOO

So GD thinks he will run away, I mean he can't go home and face the music that will eventually be playing. When he goes missing JY - freaked out about what happened at DM's and now very worried for his friend GD, confides in his father about the robbery/murder. His friend GD might be suicidal, worried there is no escape from the consequences of his actions. Meanwhile, GD has no means to run away, the guns he stole have been disposed of in effort to distance himself from the crime. He's already destroyed his phone to prevent being tracked back to the murder scene and on his great escape and finally abandoned his vehicle. So his big run away ends up being 36 hours of wandering aimlessly and laying low, all while still in the general local area of his crimes.

When found, GD concocts the ole biker buddy defense and his dad swallows it hook line and sinker since it beats believing his son is just an average thieving killer. JMO neither is the brightest bulb in the box.
