Especially after today, its seems pretty obvious that the DT and JA have lost, and the worst has yet to come (JM's rebuttal and closing). So, the pundits are left sounding more and more idiotic and distasteful with each of the remaining few days of trial.

HLN is particularly disgusting.. has turned this trial into a catheter commercial with a few minutes for trial breaks here and there... ugh.

Part and parcel why I refuse to watch it. After the jury questions left NO doubt what side they are on, the TH will STILL throw the State under the bus. It's like a Benny Hill sketch.

I wonder who has been the bigger liability for the DT- Samuels or ALV?

- Gives shout outs to her buddies in court

- Makes smarty pants, patronizing comments to the prosecutor ("Are you angry with me, Mr. Martinez?) and admonishes the prosecutor ("If you were in my group, Mr. Martinez, I'd put you in a Time-Out.

- Stalling, stalling, stalling by pretending she doesn't understand the prosecutor's questions and insisting on providing folksy and annoying anecdotal details then suddenly capable of giving succinct and even monosyllabic answers to the defense attorney.

She was really convinced she was going to ride in and save the day for the defense team but ended up limping off the stand and needing assistance herself.

I think she was convinced. I know a lot of people feel that she's in this for the money alone, and, yeah, I think that is part of it, but there is no way someone who didn't actually believe what they are saying could be as obstinate and recalcitrant as she was on the stand.
It kind of goes back to what I just posted about flexibility. No matter what opinion you are going to deliver on the stand or how much you believe in it, most people have the ability to imagine how certain aspects of the evidence could be perceived by other people. A good expert would do this often, to anticipate potential problems.
She not only failed at this, but when others went ahead and did it for her (in the form of jury questions) she couldn't explain her position in the terms set out by the question.
So, yeah, I think she was convinced because imagining alternative perspectives seem to be a problem for her.

I was hoping Beth Karas would correct her, but she's too classy for that.

Ive been in many "relationships", been married, and most recently escaped from an abusive 2 year mistake...but I honestly dont remember ever being on a 'real date'--you know, where a guy actually asks you out, plans a date, picks you up, takes you out, walks you to the door...

That was the date I had! Actually someone I met online....flew other here and he stayed in a motel for a week...a week of dates like that! Unfortunately.....after he flew back he decided to pursue other options. Probably the best week of my life....normal dates with a normal guy.

I don't know why anyone has her on any show ever, I used to listen to her on Levi Page and just laugh, names wrong, dates wrong, injuries wrong .. I can't remember the details now, but it was a JOKE. I can't believe HLN are paying her to appear!!

I have been off line since the end of court today. Has anyone posted the possibility that the same juror that asked LaViolette why she continually looked over and smiled at the defendant may have sent a note to the judge last week that LaViolette was being coached from the defence table?

I wondered if the two hour session in chambers the other day, with LaViolette present, was while the judge went through the camera footage, and now Tuesday is a hearing on Wilmott's behaviour.

Just a thought.

I agree with you and hope she gets LWOP...I feel a bit different then you do, I think the DP should be for someone that murders 2 or more people, mass murderers and serial killers.

Plus after all the appeals of the DP that JA will apply for it will cost more money than if they would have just given her LWOP in the first place. MOO and all that.

...hmmmm... I think that the brutality of the crime and torture of the victim should be considered, as well as premeditation and lack of remorse .....
And certain murderers should be confined outside the general population based on the atrocity of their crimes...I could go on, but.....

At 39:28 JW asks to approach, interrupting JM's questioning. It looks like ALV glares at JM. Then she turns her head to the jury and says something, maybe under her breath. Can anyone tell what it was? TIA

Looked like "jerk." She couldn't be stupid enough to have actually done that, though. Right?

Near the end of Alyce's testimony today she said that she believed she got the "Jodi shooting in the closet" info from Dr Samuels...is this a no-no? Is she allowed to be privy to someone else's testimony, and then use is as her own while she's on the stand?

Yes, as an expert it would be normal and appropriate for her to read and rely on another expert's report.
