She thinks she is doing something, but I think the attorneys let her think this just so she isn't talking to them so much. The dogs are something she understands a bit more than the scientific stuff so she looked super busy today. They probably give her busy work to do.

I don't think she is really using the computer to access the internet. Remember at 1 point during jury selection the mitigation specialist was letting her view her laptop and DS gave her what for. I don't think DS would allow it.

Although I agree with some others, it has looked like she was using a cell phone at times. I think a deputy should be behind her the way they were in Pinellas county so they can monitor what she is doing. It seems like that is the reason for the low-backed chair, so they can see what she's doing easier. In Pinellas cnty, they didn't even let her lean down under the table without knowing what was going on.

It looks like the closest deputy is standing up near the end of the table where CM sits. Maybe he has a better view than we think he does.

I think she is fulfilling her own need to be useful. I think whatever it is she is doing, she is only doing it to feel like she is smart, useful and needed. I don't think she cares one bit about doing it for show. It is all about what makes her happy and makes her feel good.

+I, too think she is doing busy work at the encouragement of JB, but I believe she thinks she is really helping, so I had to vote that she is doing genuine research. Is it at all useful....I doubt it.

I remember that in the hearings we saw earlier, ICA spent a lot of time fussing with her hair and clothes and appearing to giggle and flirt with people. There was considerable discussion about that here (and probably on other sites) about how inappropriate that behaviour was.

So my feeling is that the DT read those comments, and came up with this as a way to keep her busy and stop her from grooming and preening in front of the jury.

Yes, it still looks a bit bizarre but maybe it's better than the alternative.

I am in no way a ICA supporter; however, if I ever got charged with a crime, I would insist on being an active participant in my defense. I am an educated person and have seen enough really incompetent stupid lawyers out there to know that if I ever got into trouble I would require a collaborative relationship with my lawyers. Then again, I am not nor have I ever been arrested for anything and am not a criminal. It is probably her right to interact with her lawyers. They may also be wanting to keep her very comfortable right now to gain her cooperation IN CASE she is to testify or enter into a plea agreement.

It seems to me that, in the few other trials I've watched, a lawyer either warns his/her client that upcoming testimony might be graphic or difficult to watch. Or they put a hand on their shoulder etc. Some sort of word or gesture to help them cope with what they might have to hear or see. I don't think I've ever seen any member of her defense team do this. Wholesale acceptance of her lack of emotion seems odd. Might just be me.

I must say I have watched many trials and this is the first time I have witnessed the defendant with so much freedom to move around, rifle thru papers, laughing, whispering. When I turned tv on this morning she is holding the computer cord. The day won't come soon enough for her to play her new role of prison pastor......her Bible is on the bed, ready to go.

She passes JB's macbook cables across and maybe even plugs them in. :) At the end of the day she sorta wrapped the cable back up for him but it was half hearted and really it was just a chance to delay, delay, delay going back to her cell.
She was reading the Cadaver Dog Handlers Manual today or at least she was perusing the pictures. Other than that, the more scientific and less emotional the evidence, the more flirty she gets with her lead man I've noticed.

It is not you. It is KC and her very strange DF. I don"t think they really care 2 @@@@ about her. They are just there to try to gain fame and fortune.

I certainly would not argue with the basic premise of your response here, Dr.. In ICA's case, however, there has been considerable variation in her response to the trial and her interaction with her attorneys, hence the interest in the possible motivation for the changed approach. I, too, would not rely solely on my counsel and would certainly lend my own educated experience to that team in my own defense.

I think you are entirely correct about their concern for managing her, but I do not believe that they, or anyone, are capable of managing her behavior. She exhibits many qualities consistent with NPD and her history is certainly consistent with that behavioral profile. Merely something to consider, and all MOO of course.

Completing her new book, "Everyone Lies ... You too can make this stuff up!".

That's only if she gets it published now before the verdict. Afterwards it could be Everyone Lies.......everyone dies. How ironic. Dies for her lies. :)

I wish I knew what she was doing but I will say how I wish she was being tried in Pinellas(sp) County those deputies were on her like "white on rice" she would get away with NOTHING ..she couldnt even drink out of a plastic water bottle she had to use a dixie cup

Casey had a fake job, a fake nanny and fake friends. Now she has another fake job--in her head.
She's pretending she is part of the defense team. Like Nerdy said, she's an actress.

I don't know what the heck she's doing, but it's (she's) driving me nuts!
I am so sick of seeing her act like Miss Paralegal! In fact I wish she had to sit there in handcuffs and shackles!
She has much too much freedom in that courtroom, imho.
I've never seen anything like it (her)!!!

I had to vote for the infamous "None of the above". I don't think it is for the camera's or actually doing any kind of research. I think she is doing this to try and be important, helpful...etc., but just in her own mind. Makes her feel good about herself. Makes her feel like part of the team. Makes her feel like a legal secretary instead of an inmate in jail who is on trial. Disassociates herself from the graveness and reality of the situation. Especially today I noticed more than ever before, she acted like she didn't want to leave the courtroom. I think she finds this much more stimulating than sitting in a cell 23 hours a day....but in a short while, that will be her life.

I see it as ICA doing what Sociopaths do. She's trying to blend in to her surroundings. They are like chameleons. They adapt and take on the traits of the people around them to fit in when it suits them.

She did it at Tony's house when she cooked and cleaned, to take on the "wifey" type roll and she did it at Fusion when she was "den mother" to the other shot girls. They do what they need to do to fit in and con those around them.

So I think she's doing what she feels will make her look good to all the people watching.

She's screening for information that might contradict her latest lie as was articulated in the Defence's opening statement.

I had posted this in the sidebar thread. Hope it is OK to post here since it seems to fit on this thread better. I do not think that KC thinks she on trial. I believe she thinks the prosecution, the witnesses, the evidence and the experts are on trial and she is the jury.
