The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing person.
David L Strahota, 61 years of age, 5’04”, 200 pounds, of the Tomahawk WI. area was last heard from around November 17, 2021.

At that time he told friends that he was going hunting down south for a couple of weeks and he requested a friend take care of his animals while he was gone. According to friends David was vague about his exact location or who if anyone he would be with. One possible location may be the Fox Valley in eastern Wisconsin.

Friends indicated that it is not normal for David to be gone for such a long period of time and they are concerned because he does have health issues.

David does not have a cell phone, and he left his vehicle at home which is not out of the ordinary because he usually rides with others. At this time it is unknown what if any vehicle he may be traveling in. David’s house and property were searched with no leads as to where he might have gone.

Sheriff’s Office asks for help finding missing Tomahawk man

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office search home for missing person

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is searching a home near Tomahawk for a man missing since November of 2021.

The Sheriff’s Office says David Lee Strahota was last seen near a property on State Highway 86, west of Tomahawk. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office started an extensive search on that property Wednesday.

In April, the sheriff’s office asked the public for help locating Strahota. At that time, they said he was last heard from around November 17, 2021. He told friends that he was going hunting down south for a couple of weeks and he requested a friend take care of his animals while he was gone. According to friends Strahota was vague about his exact location or who if anyone he would be with. One possible location may be the Fox Valley in eastern Wisconsin. Friends indicated that it is not normal for Strahota to be gone for such a long period of time and they are concerned because he does have health issues.

No other information is being released at this time.

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice, the Merrill Police Department, the Tomahawk Police Department, the Tomahawk Fire Department and K9s from Canine Search Solutions.

This is an ongoing investigation.

“The search was done on his property just to be doing a thorough investigation just to rule out any possibilities. The first thing to do is to check the property and make sure he wasn’t there somewhere,” said Lieutenant Peterson.

Circumstances of Disappearance - At this point in the investigation David was last seen on November 17, 2021 at his residence, but was not reported missing until March 15, 2022. He told several people that he was going deer hunting down south (unknown location) with a friend and would be back within a week or two. David did not leave any information on where to contact him, he does not own a cell phone and he left his own vehicle at the residence. There has been no withdrawal activity on his bank account and no friends or family have been in contact with him.

He didn’t take his car. Someone knows something!

I did a WI circuit court case (CCC) search by his name.

—He was last seen on 11/17/21 per NAMUS, saying he’d be back in a week or so.
—Per CCC search, at that time there were hearings going on related to

Lincoln County Case Number 2021CF000149 State of Wisconsin vs. David L Strahota

—it would appear he might have had a revoked license at the time of disappearance.

—he was last seen mid-week before gun deer hunting opener. So that makes perfect sense that he was talking about going hunting.

I have no real conclusions. But if someone really wants to dig into this, for one of his court cases (there were others under his name) it lists the name of the friend who accompanied him to court. Perhaps she has some ideas or additional info.

Update as of November 12, 2022, the Franklin police did a water search of monastery lake (where his home is located) and found nothing.
