Here’s a zoomed out map to give a general overview of location, near the MN WI border.

This week 20 years ago is the last time anyone is known to have seen Gary Paul Bergstand.

Bergstrand was last seen leaving his home in Milltown on the morning of June 23, 2004.

Bergstrand was 41 when he went missing, and would be 61 today. The Wisconsin Missing Persons Advocacy group said at the time of his disappearance, he had blood cancer and suffered from depression.

The Circuit Court access shows Gary was arrested for manufacturing, possessing, and maintaining a drug trafficking place in 1993. He plead guilty to the drug house and the other two charges were dismissed. Address given was in Centuria at the time. Aside from that bust, there's no other records I see.

The is the southern portion of the Gandy Dancer Trail. As mentioned in some articles, they dont know if he went to St Croix Falls from his home in Milltown or took the longer road North to Danbury. We also don't know if he continued on through to Minnesota.

But here's where my personal experience kicks in. I've had blood cancer. There isn't any way in hell he's walking very far if he had it. Blood carries oxygen, and he'd be unable to walk very far and he'd be out of breath. I bet you dollars to donuts his remains are close to Milltown.

Here's my new map with what I sent to the sheriff:
I was looking at Gary Bergstrand's case again with maybe a different eye than some because I actually have had blood cancer, like Gary. Most missing people that are found are found within 4 miles (and sometimes, if they are elderly, much closer) of their home. I'm shocked Gary even went for a hike. Blood cancer makes you short of breath and tire easily, sometimes it's even hard to stand up. Blood carries oxygen, so if you have blood cancer, you aren't getting enough oxygen to walk very far. I know Milltown area was searched thoroughly. I did an as the crow flies line map from Centuria to just north of Café Wren/Luck.

There were times, with blood cancer, I could barely walk across the street. So, I bet if you do find remains, it'll be well within this range, probably closer to Milltown than not. Also I don't know where Gary lived so I can't give you a more accurate map. Anyway, I hope that maybe people can look closely, and maybe find his remains either near the small lakes or ponds or really, anywhere within that range. gandy1.pngI know it's been searched a lot, but it always helps to narrow down the most likely places.
(Gandy Dancer follows the route of 35 from Centuria all the way north to Danbury.

I received a very nice email back today from the Sheriff thanking me and also saying he searched personally for weeks and couldn't find Gary. Jeez, so many families of MPs would do anything for someone that caring on their case.
