I'll admit: as with Daniella Vian case (although that got squirrely) - without more facts...what can we go on..?

I don't even know if anything was stolen: I understand that there was not...but...not sure

We don' t know what was said, heard on that 911 call.....

We don't know what shift James worked (if any)

It's tough to keep sleuthing under these circumstances...

One thing: why in heck did LE go to the casino, first things first, so to speak?
Either family told them that is where he had spent evening....OR
there was solid evidence he was there...
possible that LE figured perps could easily blend in at the casino...depending on how busy, large the parking lot was....

Anyway.....it's difficult to keep posting when you're up a brick wall of lack of information.........

I don't recall what the task force ever said about truly clearing Gary Ridgeway but he was not so "cleared" that they excluded his DNA from testing when it finally became available to prove he was the killer. I really don't know what is real with JC's case anymore but I'd never put it past LE to say someone was cleared for strategic purposes even if they were not. I actually hope that is the case here. At least we'd have a lead. Jmo.
They had strong suspicions about him, but didn’t have the technology to do the necessary testing that ultimately brought him to justice.

A little off thread question for veterans:

I know there’s no “usual” but how long do you follow cases before there is some kind of break? How often do you check daily?

I haven’t followed very many this closely.

I found WS in 2014 for the case of Russell and Shirley Dermond, which is still unsolved.

Back in the mid 70s I was Jayme’s age when CB radios were a big thing with suburban families. Dads wanted them for traveling on vacation I guess. At least in my area of the country this was a thing. My friends and I would sit in the car in the carport at night and talk to truckers. They all seemed so nice. They often offered to meet us at McDonald’s which was very close to where we lived (but on the state hwy) and buy us a shake. They also wanted to come by and visit us at home. There were also some truly good truckers who would intervene and try and interrupt those conversations. Thankfully none of us acted on the idea and finally got bored of the new toy our families suddenly had. My point being that I think the ages 13-15 are a very common time for girls to become vulnerable to the flattery of a boy or an older man posing as a young man. I’m not 100% sold on that being the catalyst here but won’t be at all surprised if it is.

Probably because casinos are covered in cameras and they were looking for vehicles coming from the area at the time of the murders.

I love how that was just so casually mentioned. Before I left for the afternoon after reading that, I couldn't find anywhere where the sheriff addressed this with the media. I am just wondering in my mind, what would be the purpose of even posting this to the public- especially about the motion detection cameras. No doubt LE has a great reason for doing so, but it's a puzzle to me, as the perp now knows there's cameras there.

I wonder if this is why they didn't fix the front door of the house, leaving it open for anyone that wanted to go in. I know there was a tarp or sheet over it, but I find it strange for them to just leave it like that.

I wondered the same thing about the door. I was searching earlier today and ran across this video. 19 seconds in and it appears that the door does have a piece of plywood behind that blanket/sheet. Search near Closs house turns up empty in Wisconsin

Jayme’s dad was 56, right? So he could have friends and acquaintances with kids in their 20s. Perhaps an older boy got to know her that way and felt protective or whatever, rather than online. Random thought, not implying we should sleuth dad’s friends kids. Just thinking that a shy, quiet girl could have a larger circle of acquaintances that way.

Every case is different, but if you group them in to “types” with info like age, gender, risk factors, we have a lot of historical data to suggest outcomes. You can find some interesting statistics from the DOJ online.

I have followed cases that are resolved within 24 hours, I have one I have been following for six years, and another I have followed for 41!

Right. An earlier poster claimed Ridgeway was cleared by LE. They may have said that? (that is the part I'm not sure about) but I know they never believed it. I have personally spoken to members of LE who worked on the case. He was always at or near the top of the list. My point was just that sometimes LE doesn't tell us all of the "truth". Jmo.

Yes, they have admitted surveillance but what I don't understand is why the back door was left unlocked. If Jayme left on her own, perhaps LE believes she will return?

Could the lock on the back door have been broken during the murders?

That sounds to me like the way I think Jayme would be. Her family said they would be shocked, or surprised if she had a boyfriend. And she was very shy. They interviewed her friends extensively. I don't think she could have met anyone on line, or put herself in any sort of dangerous situation with an older guy. That's about the only thing I've ruled out. Jmo
Shy people tend to be more comfortable online. It’s much easier to talk to somebody when there’s no physical, or eye contact. It brings your guard down. IMO

I know this sounds crazy, but I feel like I won’t be okay if this sweet girl doesn’t come home soon! I have found myself worrying and hoping like I would for a friend of my daughter. I worry if she’s being taken care of and fed well, I hope she’s (against all odds) with someone being kind to her.

He likely stopped killing because of the heat from the initial investigation. It appears that he stopped at that point, and that was the likely reason.

I first joined following the Sierah Joughin case. She was found three days after she was reported missing, and her murderer was arrested far sooner than she was found.

The next case I followed was the case of Tad Cummins, teacher, who abducted his student and was unaccounted for for 38 days.

The most recent was the murder of child Mariah Woods. Took 11 days to find the body. 6 days to arrest suspect.

So...the two unknown perps of cases I’ve followed were discovered fairly quickly. The case in which the perp was immediately known took over a month.

I do love me some Twitter. I’ve only followed a few cases, but this one has my heart. I worry and hope for a miracle. I just wasn’t sure if it’s “normal” to know so little after two weeks.
I would say it's definitely normal. There are still cases unsolved, such as Abby and Libby, Jon Benet, and many others. Mollie Tibbetts was 33 days I think, when they found the body and when they made an arrest. Edited to correct time of arrest

I was trying to remember a case of a girl being abducted and her mom and brother killed. Was that the Cummins case?

The Missing Fort Worth Three happened in 1974. I still follow this unsolved case.
