I think they most likely went to sleep. I don't know about Barron but on a Sunday night in most small towns I'm familiar with there is not a lot open after 10 PM. Also, in Jim's sibling interview they said there were plenty of times when Jayme was alone in the mornings-- like waiting for the bus. To me that indicates Jim and Denise both worked first shift sometimes, leaving Jayme alone in the morning. IIRC the Jennie-O advertisements posted in previous threads showed 1st shift as 7 AM - 4 PM. This make sense to me that Jim probably worked those hours and then went home to watch football. Denise and Jayme left the Sunday party at 4 PM and probably went home to have dinner with James. And if they had to work at 7 AM they probably didn't stay up until after midnight-- they are not 20-somethings. JMO.

ETA: Hey, do we know what time the football game ended Sunday night? I bet they watched it. JMO.

The fact that Jayme was on her own in the mornings makes me think if she was the target why didn't the perp(s) try and take her then? If they knew of the family routine and it was a planned abduction then surely it would make more sense to arrive on some dark, cold rainy morning when Jayme was alone and take her then? There wouldn't be the need to kill James and Denise at all in this scenario.

It has been a month.

Why are they just looking at videos now? With that many people originally working, would not one think this would be done right away?

Imagine some people may have been on vacation. I read somewhere that out of state cabin owners were contacted to see if they would allow property searches.

Some people could have been on a cruise or in the hospital. Who knows. But this seems late to be examining video

The way I understood it was that they had been looking at video all along but they recently expanded the area they were look at. The had video from 80 businesses from Barron County (that's a lot of hours to look at) and they are now looking at more video outside Barron. I hope they have found something significant to focus on and are tracking someone as he left the area. They might even be tracking a car to another state using video. JMO.
MILWAUKEE (AP) -- The FBI is examining additional surveillance video taken from an expanded area around the Wisconsin home where a couple was shot and killed and their daughter was apparently abducted, the sheriff leading the investigation said Wednesday.
About 80 surveillance videos were collected initially from businesses and other locations, according to Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald. The FBI last week expanded the perimeter of surveillance video collection beyond the county as they search for clues in Jayme's disappearance and was analyzing the video at its Milwaukee office, he said.

Also interesting from that article:

"Although deputies responded to the 911 call within 4 minutes, Fitzgerald said all the squad cars came from the same direction, making a timely getaway possible.

"You can back out of your driveway in a minute and still be two minutes ahead of us," he said. "There's lots of roads to turn on to be out of the area quickly."

Squad car dashcam video was also reviewed for possible leads."

BBM. That answers our questions about the direction of travel of LE cars and whether they have dashcams.
Too bad at least one of the police vehicles didn't just keep going on that hwy in the chance that they could find the getaway car.

True but we really dont know the sequence of events.

They may indeed have knocked at first and Jim did open the door slightly but was able to shut it back again if he saw they were up to no good. And that is when forced entry happened after then.

We just don't know either way but many have first opened their door and were able to shut it back causing the perps then to force entry.

Imo

a year ago this month I fell for a trick knock at the front door after 10pm. man and woman yelling about a accident, I thought twice but when they told me accident was on my property I opened the door, and went outside. they both had handguns. i locked myself out in the process. i knew not to open the door, but part of their story was shocking so i just done it anyway. i was unharmed. i would like to say that wouldn't happen again but i might fall for it again if the story given was right enough.

Maybe that’s what the electronic sniffing dogs were brought in for. Maybe they are missing one cellphone

But then why, when asked if anything was taken from the home, did Fitzgerald reply, " Not that we know of ." I would think accounting for all the victims cellphones would be priority number one, and if one was unaccounted for, that would obviously be something missing from the home.

Again, JMO.

Maybe it was dependent on the perps own schedule or the amount of traffic on the road? In the early morning there could be many cars commuting into work at the factory and school traffic. Too risky that someone would see his car. Someone else also brought up that perhaps the perp himself works during the time Jayme was getting on the bus. If he is a local, he may have seen her standing out there on his morning commute. Taking her at night gives him time to hide her someplace and still go to work as if nothing happened. JMO.

ETA: Not to mention, the perp may have had some sick fantasy of killing her parents in order to better control Jayme. MOO.

Great info. But as you pointed out, no info on Wisconsin. If the state did mandate it, Barron would have to have it. But the question as you said is, do they.
Trying to remember which school was Jayme was going to so hope this is the right school district. This is from the May 18, 2018 Barron Area School District newsletter(page 4 last paragraph): "Cameras are installed on each of the buses to review and reinforce safety as well."

We don't know that he opened the door at all. He might have gone to see who was knocking and got mowed down by bullets through the door or they might have kicked in the door right as James got to the doorway. JMO.

That is exactly what I think, Gardener. I don't think James actually opened the door, if he did , why would the door be kicked in ? I think he heard a commotion, went to the front door and turned on the porchlight and that's when all hell broke loose. JMO

ETA: FWIW, my husband and I live in a very rural area. We hear racket on our front porch at least a few times a week. Although we are gun owners, we don't grab a weapon. We turn on the porch light and open the door to see what's making the noise. Why ? Because from experience we know that it is probably one of the cats, a raccoon, a possum , or even larger wildlife like a coyote or a bear. We've seen them all get into bird feeders or plants or whatever on our porches. Is that a smart thing to do ? Obviously not, but we do it on a regular basis none the less.

Too many cars. 6000 a day. How many is that an hour? And more of those probably are not in the middle of the night

with her parents gone and her condition unknown will there be guardians appointed just in case they are needed or will that all just wait until/if she is found? I'm not thinking in terms of estate or finances, more just a adult that acts in place of the parents.

It was Game 6. My hubs says the games usually get done between 10:30-11:00, Central Time.
There was MLB Playoffs and NFl that day.
The packers AND the Brewers ( NLCS ) both played the next day . James would have had just a recreational interest that day so you just dont know if he watched. If the brewers and Packers played that Sunday night I would bet that he would be glued to the TV

Makes total sense. Even if answered with a gun, he would hesitate and assess the situation. The killer knows exactly what he is going to do. No hesitation

In Daylight on a road where 6000 vehicles travel per day? I think Cover of night was the plan here

It doesnt sound like these three were home together that often. James worked 60-80 hours a week, Denise worked, and Denise and Jayme were on the go with activities. It almost seems to me like whoever did this took the opportunity to do it when they intentionally could find all 3 at home at the same time. If only one was the target, that could have been figured out, even if not grabbing Jayme at the bus stop. They could have waited til everyone left except their target and done this exact same thing inside without having to kill extra people, and with time to spare before the others got home.

Yeah. But unfortunately they didn't even know what kind of scene they were rolling up on. Even after they determined it was a double murder and a missing child they didn't know if the perp(s) left on foot or by car. That's why they searched the woods and neighbor's properties and proabaly also why they contact the casino (for video IMO).
