You're right. Most likely locals that are known to follow calls. They were driving around multiple times. This doesn't sound like EMT/FD

The police dispatch log: 911 dispatch log: Call made from Denise's cell phone, door kicked in
From the dispatch log:
ATTEMPTED TO CALL THE LAND LINE AT THE RESIDENCE BUT THE PHONE HAS BEEN DISCONNECTED.
I have a landline with no VM set up. When I take it off the hook you get a busy signal. If the lines were cut it would just ring. "disconnected" typically means phone company turned your phone off and you get that recording. I guess the landline is not a huge factor. I just keep scraping my brain on this case.Thought same. If our landline is off the hook though, caller gets voice mail. If phone is truly disabled, I’ve heard messages like “This number is no longer in service.”
This. Easier to conceive of someone wanting to hang themselves in a barn or shoot themselves than of a murderous rampage happening in a rural community.Maybe the officer just couldn't wrap his head around this at first.

The neighbor said she saw the school bus bring Jayme home. Maybe the caregiver only picked her up at school when Jayme attended events after school.
Cheyenne/JLR - members of LE or ambulance or fire department that weren't needed? If not, then those two were very well known in order to be called by their first name/initials.
Wrong house scenario? Arrested woman living in house where arrest made?
Right house scenario? Parents had gambling debts? Those casinos in WI and MN are Native American owned and run as I recall. Visited one in Arrowhead of MN with some friends once. All moo.

Yes, lots of rural people have scanners. I grew up with one in the house. It was a fairly normal thing back then. It's likely they are locals who have a scanner and heard calls come through. There is a local facebook group for my county in WI that does this very thing.
Because its a small town, LE linkely knows the vehicle/driver/
Has there been any information if a train passed through around the time after police arrived? Possibly a slow freight?
Don't know, but it wasn't until almost an 2 1/2 hours into the call that we get. Here's the thing. How did LE know that Jayme was missing or just staying at a friend's or relative's house? Maybe the latest non-reputable website posted is correct in that they know it was Jayme that yelled for help.

Nighttime lows often don't occur until just before dawn. Of course this can be different as fronts move through but in calm weather that would generally be true.

The daytime high was 43 and the low was 29. A high of 43 in the day is chilly enough.
Hanging around the house at night in that temp would certainly imply dedication that would not be for a random burglary or home invasion.

No - would be reported as "no answer" or "busy tone" (if no call waiting associated with phone number). MOOOr if the phone was taken off the hook? Would that be considered "disconnected"?
