The way I read this article is that it took LE 5 minutes to locate the second victim after reporting to dispatch that they had a "man down and "multiple rounds spent"". 5 minutes to find the Mom???? that is a small house and we did look at multiple views and thought there was a basement. Wonder what took so long to find her if this article is accurate?

It would take them time to clear the scene completely. They would have no way of knowing at that time if the murderer was still inside the home hiding somewhere.

I wonder what would have lead LE to initially report this as a possible suicide ? Did it maybe take them a few minutes to get to one of the bodies, so they just weren't sure whether there was a gun at the crime scene until they recovered the second body ?

Maybe on the 911 call the dispatcher called back, couldn't get anyone...hence, possible suicide. First officer arrives, jumps out of car. Before he has walked up to house, he sees man down in doorway and thinks the door was kicked in. Anyone would rather think it's a suicide than something so much worse. MOO

It seems bizarre that he'd be able to answer the door and not mention his daughter was taken, though. I really don't think it makes sense that way. One thing I have noticed from reading police reports--and this isn't a knock on LE--is the grammar is always not the greatest and the wording is often awkward simply because the person speaking or writing is not extremely articulate. Just because the wording is awkward doesn't mean anything on its own.

From the 911 log it appears to me they thought it was a suicide entirely BEFORE anyone made it out to the house. Based on the initial 911 call, what they heard. JMO
That advisement came from 329 (sheriff unit number - will be an actual deputy). This occurs many minutes after the 911 call ended. That is clear from the log entries that occur prior to the entry.

Generally speaking, if you listen to scanners much, 911 hang up calls with yelling or screaming in them, are treating as if there is a Domestic Violence incident in progress. Usually if someone calls and it is possible that a suicide attempt is in progress they actually log it that way and it would be dispatched as such. In such situations there is a corresponding of EMT and Ambulance for a stage out until police clear the scene. From the logs it is clear that 500 and 501 are EMT/Ambulance references and they don't show up until a little later in the log.

303 could be a stationary LE at troublesome casino- "be on lookout they must be coming your way we didn't see them"
Wrong house scenario? Arrested woman living in house where arrest made?
Right house scenario? Parents had gambling debts? Those casinos in WI and MN are Native American owned and run as I recall. Visited one in Arrowhead of MN with some friends once. All moo.

This person thought they’d be able to gain entrance by simply knocking? Had this been someone after just Jayme, they could have went through a window or something. Not knock at the front door & make their presance known. Maybe they were trying to draw one of the parents outside? And when they realized that parent wasn’t coming out, they forced their way in? MOO

I thought perhaps Dad had gone to the door but , WHOEVER it was, he did not want to let in. The door was kicked in and Dad may have been shot "twice." There were "multiple" shots fired (indicated in report). These would have been "loudest" as they were in front of an open door. JMO
So perhaps the officer who arrived found the Dad barely alive in the doorway and he told him the door was kicked in before he died? speculation only. just trying to make sense of this one detail since I thought at the press conference the sheriff said they were both deceased when they arrived on scene

That wording made me think he answered the door to the police. They also said possible suicide attempt which makes me think he was alive when they arrived.

I didn't read anything to suggest that he was conscious at the time of police arrival... what I did read was they found a man down, unresponsive and shortly after, found the mom down, also unresponsive (per police transcript).

Given that this is a 911 dispatch log, could some of the entries be related to another / different call?

From the county website, it appears Jayme's parents always paid their property taxes in late December, like clockwork. Doesn't sound like anybody with gambling debts.

What's your point about what ethnic group runs the casinos?

Great catch. Here's a reference to the dog from the log:

wonder if this was used to video the crime scene?

For what it's worth, and admittedly, it's not worth much...while doing a street view drive, I noticed an ATV parked out in front of one of the neighbors houses, and it did give me a moment's pause. I'd never even considered an ATV until I saw that. Not saying it's a serious consideration to me now, mind you , but I did pause when I saw it.

Good thought! We had a lake cabin in Sawyer County. There are a wide variety of such vehicles, for fun, hunting, and farming use.
