New information prompts police to reopen cold case on 1989 murder
Sept 13 2018
"The police received new, concrete information regarding a possible perpetrator behind the murder of 32-year-old Wilma Bres in Delft in 1989. This cold case has therefore been reopened, with a 10 thousand euro reward on offer for information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrator or perpetrators, the police said on Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday evening.

Exactly what information was received, was not revealed.

Wilma Bres was found stabbed to death near her home on Muyskenlaan in Delft at around 3:00 a.m. on July 16th, 1989. Her bicycle was found nearby.

On the evening of July 15th she performed in a play 'Sondheim in the Park' with an amateur company in former theater De Tent on Agnetapark. Afterwards she had a few drinks with participants and guests in a bar in the theater bar. According to witnesses, the medical student left the bar at 2:00 a.m. to cycle home."

Seven striking cold cases in the Netherlands | tellerreport.com
''Cold cases in the Netherlands
  • The Netherlands has 1,774 cold cases, last year 143 cases were still being worked on
  • 57 cold cases have been solved in the last twenty years
  • Since 2013, the police have been working on structural cold cases, ten teams are active within the force''
  • The disappearance of Willeke Dost (1992)
Fifteen-year-old Willeke Dost has a tragic life history. She loses her parents in a car accident around her first year of life and spends the following years in foster homes and with family. When she was ten, she ended up with foster parents in Koekange, where she disappeared five years later.

Her foster parents state that the girl is no longer in her bedroom on Wednesday morning, January 15, 1992. Assuming that she has already cycled to school, she is only reported missing in the evening.

The case is initially viewed as a voluntary disappearance, but later Fred Teeven (then Member of the Lower House for the VVD) denounces that the case has not been properly investigated.

In recent years - last year for the last time - the foster parents' plot has been dug to see if the teen's body is there. Her foster mother and one of the foster brothers have been detained for some time, but have never been prosecuted for possible involvement in Dost's disappearance due to a lack of evidence.''
