PARIS HAMMER ATTACKER: A FORMER JOURNALIST AND DOCTORATE STUDENT

Haaretz.com
http://www.haaretz.com/world-news/europe/1.794328?utm_source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter

The man who attacked police officers patrolling in front of Notre Dame Cathedral, crying out "This is for Syria!" was a former journalist who was working on a doctoral thesis and had not been suspected of supporting terrorism, according to university officials and the French government's spokesman.

A student identity card showed he was from Algeria and 40 years old.

"He was someone who believed a lot in democratic ideals, the expression of free thinking, in journalism,"
Mercier said on BFM. "Nothing, absolutely nothing, foretold that one day he'd be a jihadi who'd want to kill a policeman in the name of I don't know what cause."

GERMAN ROCK FESTIVAL: ANGRY RANT OF DIRECTOR

Welt.de

"I feel horribly empty and exhausted," he [ Marek Lieberberg ] said on Friday night. He said about the police, "I hope that they will deal with us and our fans just as much as with football matches, where they will play again the next day." With this he referred to the attack on the team bus of Borussia Dortmund who competed on the next day in the Champions League.

Communication with the authorities was good according to Lieberberg. "It's the assessment," he said. "Is that the result of our resilient democracy? What will be canceled next? " Whether the three-day festival can be continued on Saturday was initially unclear. "The signal that Germany is sending out today is catastrophic," Lieberberg said.

"I finally want to see demonstrations, that are directed against these violators. I have not seen any Muslims who have gone to the street to tens of thousands and have said what is really going on? And I would like to have something happening in the country that those who pose a public threat are being arrested too. We pay the price for the scandal around Amri, " Lieberberg said furiously.

WE NEED ARMED POLICE AT CONCERTS AND FESTIVALS

Last weekend, the three-day "Rock am Ring" Festival organized by Lieberberg in the Eifel was interrupted by a terror warning. After the suspicions led to nothing, the event was continued.

"Our society is now under permanent alarm," Lieberberg said. After every attack, one will always hear that love is stronger. "I say, love is not stronger. Love alone will not suffice to defeat terror, " he said, "and of course our security apparatus must be increased, prevention must be improved."

When asked whether the "Rock am Ring" festival would take place next year, the promoter replied, "I will do everything to make that happen. The question is a matter principally directed at all cultural producers. Where does it begin, where does it end," he said," I can only conclude that we are under attack."

The big news is of course that there apparently is no armed police as of now.

The other news is that those who want to continue their lifestyle may be confronted with organizers not willing or no longer able to run the risk.

DRIVER CANNOT REMEMBER A THING

RTL Nieuws
https://www.rtlnieuws.nl/nederland/...opereerd-bestuurder-kan-zich-niets-herinneren

The driver who hit several pedestrians on the Stationsplein in front of Amsterdam Central Station last night is a 45-year-old resident of Amsterdam. Two people who were severely injured have been in surgery and are kept in an artificial coma.

Two other injuried are still in hospital, according to police reports. According to the police, the crash was not intentional, but the driver had become unwell.

It turned out that he had low blood sugar levels. Blood has been taken from the man for further investigation. A spokesman says that the driver uses medications, but whether that affected the low blood sugar levels is not known yet.

At least, it has been ruled out that alcohol was involved. The driver is still detained because of his involvement in this serious accident. He claims he does not remember anything about the incident.

The driver was adressed by police agents immediately before the incident because he was driving on the tramway. "He made a normal impression," the spokesman said. "During that conversation, a fine was also given. He was told to follow the tram track and drive off the station square."

The man drove away. After about 30 meters he suddenly hit the gas. He then knocked down several pedestrians and ended up driving into a wall at the entrance of the subway.

DRIVER IS DIABETIC, POLICE OFFICERS DID NOT SEE THE CAR DRIVING INTO THE AREA

AT5
http://www.at5.nl/artikelen/169980/...genten-hebben-auto-niet-aan-zien-komen-rijden

The 45-year-old man who injured seven people on the Stationsplein yesterday by hitting them with his car, suffers from diabetes. His condition may be related to the incident, police suspect.
"It is not yet clear how this happened exactly," a spokeswoman said. "But we seriously take into consideration that he became ill due to his blood sugar levels. But if the investigation shows otherwise, we will of course make that known."

BBM

Rumour has it that the driver is from North Africa and despite his diabetes and against all advice he would have been fasting. Meaning, in legal terms, that by driving a car he put himself in a situation where he could cause severe damage to others, which he did. A highly selfish act with possibly horrible consequences for his victims.

AMSTERDAM CENTRAL STATION: WITNESS CLAIMS THIS WAS NO ORDINARY ACCIDENT

AT5
http://www.at5.nl/artikelen/169978/...terdammer-nog-vier-slachtoffers-in-ziekenhuis

At the moment of the incident a second witness was walking with a friend towards the Stationsplein. "I was on the west side of Central Station and came out of the bike tunnel on my way to tram 5," according to the man. "I was talking to a friend when he shouted my name. "Run, run," he urged. I looked to the right and saw a black Peugeot coming towards me at high speed."

The two men jump aside and saw how the car had to stop because trams were in the way. "Two policemen then went to the man to ask for his driver's license. One of the agents beckoned colleagues to come over. The other agent returned the driver's license to the man and appeared to indicate that he should move on.

According to the witness, who in his opinion was five to ten meters from the car, the driver gave the impression of being irritated. "He grabbed the driver's license more or less out of the hand of the policeman. Then, with a phone in his hand, he started the car and drove off full throttle into the crowd. We literally saw people flying through the air."

The car clearly made speed when he drove off, the witness said. "He might have been going at fifty kms an hour. There was panic, you heard people screaming. I also ran away. I for one am convinced that there is no possibility that the man became unwell. I've read that everywhere and that's very frustrating. In my view, he has simply made two attempts! And he was spoken to by the police. The police should have noticed that something wasn't in order. This wasn't an ordinary accident."

The Amsterdam LE has done a search of the home of the driver.
Meanwhile on SM posters demand dat LE releases the CCTV images of the area.

AMSTERDAM CENTRAL STATION: DRIVER STILL IN CUSTODY

By the sound of it, LE is a little less certain than yesterday when they announced that this was an accident and completely without intent.

The problems with the way Amsterdam LE is dealing with this are manifold.
First, the Police did not see the arrival of the car. Witnesses claim the car was driving at high speed.
The driver is a man from Amsterdam. Every Amsterdammer knows that the area near the station is a no-go and no-park area for cars.

Second, a witness saw the car near the trams and immediately thought this was an attack. The policemen appeared less concerned. They checked the driver's licence and beckoned him to continue.
This would have been mere seconds before the man allegedly suffered a diabetic hypo and hit the gas.

Dutch State TV:
http://nos.nl/artikel/2177841-automobilist-aanrijding-amsterdam-cs-nog-vast.html

The man probably became ill and then accidentally hit the accelerator

Not mentioned in the article: The car has a manual gearbox. Hitting the accelerator won't do the trick, unless you switch gears too. Apparently, despite suffering a serious malaise, the driver was still able to coordinate his left foot and right hand to switch gears - and accelerate.

Nor did the police notice that there was anything wrong with the man. Witnesses tell that the man acted agitated. His name has not been relaesed, not even his first name. This leads to the assumption that he is no 'Hans' or 'Dirk'.

Various MSM mentioned that the man's medication had caused the hypo. Medication does lower the level of blood sugar to an acceptable level. However, after hard work, execise or without eating and drinking, that level may become too low. A doctor will never prescribe medication that pushes the level of blood sugar down to dangerous lows. It is the interaction with for instance fasting that causes the problems.

What is most troubling about this 'incident' is that it shows how easy a terrorist attack would be.

AMSTERDAM CENTRAL STATION: NO CCTV IMAGE AVAILABLE

Also notable is the fact that the collision was not recorded on CCTV. None of the cameras posted around Stationsplein and the Prince Hendrikkade would have recorded the accident. "You can not put CCTV on every square meter," says Van der Veen. "And this stretch where the collison took place took place is outside the view of the CCTV."

The driver of the car allegedly does not remember how he ended up in the center of Amsterdam.

The victims are mostly tourists. According to the Israeli webnews Ynet, three of the injured have the Israeli nationality. The police do not want to say anything about that to Elsevier Weekblad. "I won't not make a statement about this. I do not think it is that important. We speak simply of tourists," the spokesman said.

BBM

Hi Gardenista, I collect gems like these. The entire situation beggars belief.
Amsterdam Police are acting as if terrorism does not happen and they seem unable to imagine that people might think differently. The Israeli's do, two of them have already returned home, as soon as they were able to.

Amsterdam Central Station is where thousands of tourists arrive daily when they take the train from or to the airport. By all standards it is a mayor focus for a terrorist attack. There are other reasons too why LE wants to monitor the situation, for instance pickpockets and robberies at taxi stops. That is why there has been ample CCTV since over a decade.

Amsterdam Police first declared that the collision was unintentional and then searched the driver's home. For LE to be allowed to search a home, there has to be the suspicion of a crime, not a mere traffic incident.

Meanwhile, people are counting the CCTV cameras in and around the entrance of the Central Station.
In the current political climate in the Netherlands, Amsterdam Police play a sometimes dubious role. One of the reasons in this case might be that they do not want to declare publicly that the combination of fasting and driving leads to an increase in traffic accidents, and that the combination of diabetes, fasting and driving leads to horrors like on Amsterdam Central Station.

Happening in a country where the Terror Alert Level is 'substantial', 4 on a scale of 5.

"Commuters in London were left terrified yesterday when a man told a packed train he 'knew people from ISIS' and 'had a gun'.
Onlookers claim the man boarded the London Overground train travelling for Richmond and started shouting at passengers when it stopped at Canonbury station.

He claimed his 'cousin was one of the bombers in the Manchester attack' before telling shocked passengers he had a weapon, one witness said."

ISIS IS PLANNING NEW WAVE OF ATTACKS ON EUROPE WITH EXPLOSIVE-LADEN DRONES AND FEMALE JIHADIS

Daily Mail
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ng-new-wave-attacks-Europe.html#ixzz4k8zsHwiP

Europe's top law enforcement agency says explosives that mimic those used in Syria and Iraq are a leading threat to the European Union, along with returning fighters and would-be jihadis blocked from traveling to the war zone.

In a report Thursday summarizing trends from 2016 , Europol says Islamic extremists bent on attacking Europe are trending younger and more of them are female than ever before.

Arrests for jihadi activities rose last year for the third year in a row: from 395 in 2014 to 718 in 2016.
