The search for Laundrie in a massive reserve, which includes thousands of acres of forbidding, swampy subtropical terrain replete with alligators, snakes, turkey, deer and other wild creatures.

There are more than 100 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails.

Meanwhile, divers joined in the search for 23-year-old Laundrie in Florida on Wednesday.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office confirmed that they sent members of their Sheriff's Underwater Recovery Force to Carlton Reserve.

Gabby Petito’s Boyfriend Brian Laundrie Left Behind Wallet And Cellphone Before He Disappeared – CBS Miami (cbslocal.com)
[...]

Local and federal officials continue to search for any signs of Laundrie in the Carlton Reserve, a roughly 25,000-acre nature preserve near his parents’ home in North Port. The search had paused Thursday overnight due to darkness, the North Port Police Department said.

Law enforcement began their search of the area after Laundrie’s family said to police last Friday that he had not been seen for days, telling his family he was headed to the reserve before not being heard from again. A source said Laundrie left behind his wallet and cellphone.

Laundrie’s parents are concerned that he might hurt himself, the source said.

North Port Police public information officer Josh Taylor declined to comment to CNN on the report, saying, “I cannot give any statement to a timeline at this time. That investigation is being conducted by the FBI.”

Action that Brian Laundrie is accused of making during Gabby Petito disappearance led to FBI arrest warrant | WATE 6 On Your Side
The boyfriend of Gabby Petito, whose body was found at a national park in Wyoming after a cross-country trip with him, has been charged with unauthorized use of a debit card as searchers continued looking for him Thursday in Florida swampland.

A federal grand jury indictment filed in U.S. District Court in Wyoming alleges Brian Laundrie used a Capital One Bank card and someone’s personal identification number to make unauthorized withdrawals or charges worth more than $1,000 during the period in which Petito went missing. It does not say who the card belonged to.

WFCN News was made aware on Monday of two seperate reports from gas station employees in Benton, IL that FBI agents were reportedly requesting security camera footage in relation to the investigation.

The reports indicate that Petito's boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, may have used at least one card to purchase something at a gasoline station in Benton on August 31, 2021.

At this time, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has yet to confirm if Laundrie made any stops between Wyoming and Florida, and is not confirming or denying these reports.

Gabby Petito went missing, then her fiancé: Some say police should have done more (nbcnews.com)

Questions have swirled about how police have handled Gabby Petito’s case, including why they allowed her boyfriend to disappear.

In the days since Gabby Petito’s remains were found and her death declared a homicide, police have faced questions and criticism for how they handled the case.

Many are asking why Florida’s North Port Police Department didn’t obtain a search warrant for her boyfriend Brian Laundrie’s home before he disappeared, for instance, or immediately interrogate him...

North Port Police were asked about cost of search at the reserve. PIO Response:
"The question about costs have come up a lot today. We do not have that tallied up. We are not paying other agencies, it's mutual aid. From our personnel standpoint...

I would say we are working this case instead of other things. That has an impact of course. There will be some overtime mixed in there. Cost of fuel and vehicle maintenance too...

Almost every meal we've had at the PD has been made by family or donated. Every meal for those working out in the field has been donated by generous citizens and businesses. We have a special community."

Ex-Moab City Police Chief Says Officers Who Stopped Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie Did an ‘Excellent Job,’ Asks For Patience Amid Internal Probe
The former Moab City police chief has addressed criticism of the police response to an incident involving Gabby Petito and Brian Laundry not long before Petito was found dead of a reported homicide.

“In that context the officers did an excellent job, from my experience,” Winder said. “They arrived. Immediately separated these two folks. They treated them with dignity, respect and compassion.”

Winder did not directly address the second witness interview that may not have been part of the responding officers’ assessment.

“People ascribing particular psychological traits to Mr. Laundrie and Ms. Petito from a video, indicating that had one path been taken versus another… had they arrested someone, no one would have ever died. These are interesting topics of conversation but they’re not real,” Winder said.

Ashleigh Banfield just referenced the statement quoted in the link below by the Laundries' lawyer with a very OBVIOUS question I haven't seen anyone else ask:

HOW DID HE KNOW WHEN GABBY DIED?

https://twitter.com/MeghanWPTV/status/1441179697535197185?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1441179697535197185|twgr^|twcon^s1_&ref_url=https://www.crimeonline.com/2021/09/23/brian-laundrie-indicted-on-a-bank-fraud-charge/

Edited to add:

Okay the arrest warrant itself refers to activities after Gabby died. Does that mean the FBI knows when she died?

The Laundrie family attorney says Brian did not have a cell phone or wallet when he left the house Tuesday. When we asked him if Brian had a weapon -- he said "unknown." And he didn't respond when asked where the cell phone is now. Here is my convo tonight with Ashleigh Banfield.

Florida law may be helping Brian Laundrie and his parents (bizpacreview.com)
[...]

Although attention has turned to his parents, they may never be charged with a crime due to a Florida law that largely shields relatives from being named accessories from an otherwise felony offense of assisting someone with evading arrest, trial, or other punishment after committing a crime.

[...]

The parents’ immunity does have some limits according to attorney Cory Baird.

“Parents could be charged, assuming there is evidence to support the charge if their son is charged with a first or second-degree felony,” Baird said in an interview with WESH-TV. “If he is charged with a third-degree felony, they could not charge his parents.”

Laundrie’s parents, who apparently met with an attorney in Orlando on Thursday, may also be held liable for any false statements made to authorities.

“If they made misleading statements or lied to officers, obviously that’s a crime in Florida, and they’re not protected from that,” Baird explained.
