    I wonder if maybe she typed the text and hit 'SEND' but the text did not go thru for some reason until later in the day -- if she was in a "dead zone" for cell coverage when she typed it, the text wouldn't go out until the phone was back in tower range.     Tapping the chest is also done at the beginning of the Mass while acknowledging that you are a sinner in need of God's mercy. Where I am, it is mostly the older folks who tap their chest. The younger folks usually just say the words.
