GUILTY GA - Lauren Giddings, 27, Macon, 26 June 2011 #15 *appeals denied*

I pray for Lauren and her family a lot, and I prayed hard yesterday. I'm so glad this horrific ordeal is over and her loved ones do not have to endure a trial. Prison is too good for him, but I'm sure he will not be liked in prison. I knew both Lauren and David (her boyfriend) well. This...

My feeling is that the marks were not just discovered. LE obviously already had enough evidence to arrest SM on murder charges. Since the tub is a HEAVY cast iron tub, there was no need for them to remove it right away. I assume they will use tests to see if the marks match the hacksaw (I...

After reading this, I just felt sick to my stomach all over again and I thought I was past that. I'm praying they find all of her.

I hate to even think that Lauren suffered through this, but I am fearful the felony is rape.

If SM has any compassion in him (which I seriously doubt due to the horrific nature of this crime), I hope he quickly tells LE the location of the rest of the body. Since Lauren and her family are very religious, I know her family wants to give her a proper Catholic burial. Although cremation...

Big sigh of relief. I can't wait to hear more details. I hope her friends and family sleep a tad bit better tonight.

Why not have an airtight case if you can before an arrest is made? And, there may be a smoking gun once all the FBI test results are back. For all we know (which I admit isn't much yet), they may already have their smoking gun. Their main POI is sitting in jail for now - no need to rush to...

True, but that's still over a week away. A lot can happen in a week, especially if they are planning to meet with the DA early on. I took that as a good sign. IMO, they have a LOT of evidence and they know exactly where they are going with this case. They just aren't sharing much with...

I, too, am frustrated with the lack of answers in this case. However, I have to believe that they are taking extra precaution and putting together an airtight case before any arrests are made. We do not want a repeat of the Casey Anthony case. And, if they are putting together an airtight...

Got that. But if he made statements about the murder voluntarily without being asked, then they are admissible. This is all speculation on my part though. I've gotten the impression from the press conferences that SM hasn't said a word to LE about the murder.

I don't remember the theory exactly that way. Guess I need to brush up on my case law regarding this.

Why would they be inadmissible if he made those statements voluntarily while he wasn't in police custody? He also made statements in that media interview. No police involvement there. And, we don't know what, if anything, he said after he was arrested and Mirandized.

I took the profiler's comments as being a generalized procedure for how an investigation should proceed along with his theories of how it might have happened. I don't think he has personal, unpublicized knowledge of this case.

LE knows SM isn't going anywhere. So why rush the investigation? Make sure all i's are dotted and t's are crossed. Plus, over 200 pieces of evidence? This isn't the only case the FBI is working. I also believe they have some results back which pointed them back to SM. I really don't believe...

This is definitely a PR nightmare for Mercer, especially with the new school year looming. I agree it was good she hasn't stormed in there yet. When an arrest is made, she may give it more coverage. Scary thing is there are always other horrendous crimes to cover.
