I read it as the homeowner shot the two intruders rather than the intruders shooting the homeowners.

I don't really understand her thinking (I'm taking that as a good thing!) how on earth would she have thought another murder with her as the link between the victims wouldn't have come back to her.

Such an interesting book, especially as it helped to explain to non-Americans how your court system works. I didn't hear about this trial until the time of second penalty phase so have probably missed loads, although I've tried to read all the old posts on here! It was interesting in the book...

Haha bizarrely I have two friends here (England) called Jodie and one's a man. Jodie/Jody tends to be used as an abbreviation for Joanna than a standalone name. It's not that common for a man although there are a few. Marie is quite a common name, I would say Maria less so :)
