I would say so! I just got the spelling Cristhian from his FB profile, I could be wrong. I can see how media/LE would tend to use "correct" spelling without even noticing it is wrong in this case. Since he is an illegal citizen, maybe they don't even have official documents to compare yet.

Weird but not uncommon in many Latin American countries. I have seen Jhon, Jhonathan etc.. He spells his name Cristhian.

BTW, his name is Cristhian Bahena Rivera. I know it's not correct in English but it's not uncommon to have weird spellings of English names in Spanish speaking countries.

His girlfriend (or ex gf) is friends with Mollie and other Tibbetts on FB, so they probably knew each other.
