I agree on this 100%. If they really didn’t have a suspicion of what happened, I believe they would at least do volunteer searches and inform everyone to get the word out. It seems almost like they have the answer, and are working on building a case for it.

Are you sure Police Dept didn't just put gas in it while documenting the car to make sure there was no mechanical issues with it, so they could dismiss that Scenario?
