After appointing a new attorney, the judge found her request not well taken and sent her back to Dayton with no credit given for the time she spent in the county jail. She's back in Dayton and will have about 90 days added before she has a chance of parole.
Thank you for the thoughts, prayers and hugs. We are still heart-broken over such a senseless loss though it is getting easier to bear. The family met at Elaina's grave this afternoon then we went to visit FM's and my Dad's graves. TJ felt it was better than the large gatherings of the past...
Our group was smaller than the marches we had during the time we were searching for Elaina, but we were loud and many heard us.
"End child abuse...not another life!"
Yes, condolences may be left in the guestbook provided with her obituary at http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/toledoblade/obituary.aspx?n=Brenda-Steinfurth&pid=175275824
There is also a link to the funeral home at the bottom of the obituary that offers a guestbook.
I know it's been a while since I've visited this page, but was surprised to find my last visit was December 20, 2014 (what should have been Elaina's 3rd birthday).
As many of you know, Elaina's Grandma, Ferretmommy, experienced several trips to the hospital because of heart problems the past...
There was no trouble between families. We stayed across the street, they stayed at the house next door. RS hung near them (thought that was strange since he is still insists SK and his family are the only ones responsible) or alone.
The house was not only a visual reminder of the horror...
wendiesan and Kimi, coming here and reading posts really does feel like curling up and enjoying the comfort of a quilt that has been stitched love.
Schmae, September is a rough month with the anniversaries of Elaina being found, the jailhouse march, the National Day of Remembrance, then Sunday...
Sending a big Thank You to everyone for staying with us and sending well wishes and prayers as Elaina's 1st Angelversary nears.
Tomorrow will be an entire year without precious Elaina. It seems like yesterday TS called as I pulled into my driveway after attending a festival at my...
Thank you wendiesan. The time of your post didn't go unnoticed :loveyou: We lit a candle this morning (put it out to go to the cemetery), sang Happy Birthday/lit candles/released balloons at Elaina's grave, stopped at my dad's grave to say Happy Birthday to him, and now have a double wick...
Thank you all for the prayers for FM - I will let her know you are all thinking of and praying for her. TS thought she might be moved out of ICU Tuesday since she seemed to be stabilized Monday evening, but she was very unstable again in the morning.
wendiesan, I believe Elaina will be...
FM was admitted to the hospital Sunday :(. She is still in ICU, so you'll have to settle for a reply from me.
I plan on lighting a candle in Elaina's honor at 1:24 PM EST and like your idea of luminaries.
I'm not sure how Ferretmommy feels, but I would prefer the page not end yet - or abruptly.
Our pain and grieving didn't end when AS and SK were sentenced. Quite the contrary; the events of the past week have felt like another dagger to the heart. Thinking of Elaina's short life and how...

Other than one correction (it was KS, not Elaina, who said she was afraid of SK), I agree and thank you for this well-written post. The links to Wikipedia and Charles C. Turner's article offer great information.
I clipped a lot from the quoted post to save...
