I get that and I want anyone who used money, power and position to abuse young people brought to justice. My response was to "evading" signing and "such as" in bigger fish to fry that seemed to me to imply the president of the country should be seated in the oval office, on the edge of his seat...
This country is in a terrible condition with what seems like all-out war between the two ruling parties, trillions of dollars in debt, and I can't begin to name all the issues.
While I am very sympathetic to the victims of JE and GM, one is dead and the other in prison. Meanwhile our country...
It's been several years since I've been in that area, but yes, according to my memory. It becomes more remote and isolated when you head up the mountain between Rogersville and Greeneville.
It is a wooded, mountainous area. The address is deceiving. It says "in Greeneville", but it is not. It is a Greeneville address that is about 16 miles from Greeneville's main street and much closer to Baileyton, a properous old town, in Greene County, that I-81 now runs through/over. Being...
IF what has been reported was in the shooter's actual words and the order in which he said them, then his thinking is so foreign to me and the way I see things and think I can't begin to understand where he's coming from.
More than one step is out of sync to my thinking and makes no sense. Not calling 911 immediately, sure. Then, the gun was in a different room, locked in a safe (wonder where the key was and how easy it was to unlock?) The magazine was not even filled, so groggy with sleep he had to fumble around...
I am not claiming this is justified. I am saying it is not as one-sided as some people seem to be making it to be and that I feel compassion for the person whose life has also effectively ended. Life as the shooter knew it is over. I see that as extremely sad.
As a gun owner who ponders...
I'm good with agreeing to disagree. People seem to be very different in their response to things. If someone was trying to break into my home, I would be terrorized. It sounds as though you are enough different from me that you would not be. I sincerely hope neither of us has to experience it.
The homeowner had no way of knowing the situation of the people attempting to break into the home. A home invasion was reported when help was called for. They were terrorized in their home for several minutes.
How does anyone who has never experienced that know how long they would / could wait...
This is NOT a case of just anyone arriving at the wrong address. You are omitting several minutes of someone actually attempting to break into a home. Was shooting through a door monumentally stupid? I agree. But let's not turn this into Door Dash or Pizza delivery stupidity, either.
So incredibly sad, as you say. The kind of thing that gnaws at you. Makes you want to find ways it might have turned out differently. Ways to prevent something like this in the future.
In addition to your thoughts on the cleaners, I've thought about the employer. Agent or owner of a new house...
The post said: "Then, through no fault of his own, he is faced with a nightmare."
What I saw as no fault of his was someone trying to enter his home. For me, that would be a nightmare.
I happen to agree that the force used was above and beyond what nearly everyone would consider reasonable. Plus, I agree the danger was not imminent.
Nonetheless, I see this as a tragedy for all parties. Maria's family is the obvious. But the shooter was home where he belonged, perhaps having...
