So, I am currently in a dialogue with local law enforcement for obtaining DNA from the closest living relative of Emil. We will use this to match against the DNA of the unidentified person that shadowdancer found.
Will post as soon as we know.
Just an update:
I have created a NamUS case for Emil and they will compare his case with the tip from shadowdancer.
I am awaiting to hear back from St. Louis personal files.
Still looking at the deck log files from the Tender Rose: No mentioning of Emil so far.
I was thinking we should try a...
So I added two logfiles for the Tender Rose to a Dropbox folder, if anyone wants to look.
I did not find Emils name when I looked at them, but it might have slipped my eyes. The handwriting is not very good.

I had a researcher scan all log files for the lightship tender Rose from 1930-1940. I have looked at them, but I can not find any clues reg. my relative. I can not see his name mentioned either. I guess I have to look at each day to see... I will try to find a website where I can upload them if...
I am in contact with a researcher who will look into the files for me. 45$ for an hour: sounds about right?

So, there was something wrong with my Internet, but I was able to get into the website using my phone :)

I also do not know when the last letter was sent. As I have been told, this was sent to the salvation army.
About the money he had gotten: Someone in my family mentioned that...
I have not been able to find anyone in the 1940 census that seems to be my relative - therefore I believe he past between 1930-40. But you never know.
I believe that records for Light Ships are held at the National Archives, and the record keeping was not very good, so I have been told. But...
Much appreciated :)
I also wanted to give another clue. I have tried to locate descendants of the other men stated to be in the same light ship in the 1930 census, but I have not been able to: I will attach a url to the...
My relative disappeared most likely between 1930-1940 in the Portland area of Oregon. He had emigrated from Norway and was regularly sending letters back home to his step-mother in Norway. Suddenly the letters stopped, and no one has heard from him ever since. His sister, my great grandmother...
As I understand the DNA report has stated that she is of European origin, with parents from Europe. Earlier they have stated that - after looking at her writing - she has learned to write in a French speaking country.
