Is it still profiling if you're basing your judgement on recently observed behavior? We can't really say that it's impossible or even unlikely that Martin did not proceed directly and constantly toward where he was staying. It's not hard to imagine a scenario where someone who is fleeing thinks...

It doesn't imply that. One is free to infer it, but it's not the only possible or even the only probable case. There's too much missing info to determine the vectors of the two bodies at all points in time during the period in question.
