Judge read the Crown’s theory, that Butcher couldn’t live without Johnston, discovered she wanted to end their relationship and then killed her before attempting to kill himself. Jury been deliberating for 2 hours now.

Judge reminded jurors that Butcher didn’t attempt any first aid on Johnston and did not call 911 until after he attempted suicide. This is post-offence conduct.
