My suspicion is that the girls ran into or passed this guy earlier on the trail and were creeped out by him. He doubled back and they saw him coming from a distance and decided to video him out of fear.

Don't know about him being an SK but seems to me he would have had a lot of nerve for it to have been his first time. A gun is one of the very few things I can think of that could be used to control two able-bodied teenagers - especially ones who had the forethought to record the guy.

Personally, I do not think it was his first time. I base that on what I've heard elsewhere hat we cannot address here. I think he may have just been out "trolling" and either came across them earlier on the trail and doubled back or watched them enter and followed. I doubt he assumed he had time...

That's all true, but those are exceptional cases. Could have gone down that way - I'm not saying it didn't. I'm just saying a lot of that stuff is highly unlikely.
