I lived just a few miles away from Erica, and grew up there. The rivers that are near to her home are the Des Plaines River, Salt Creek, and the I & M Canal. Salt Creek (might be deep enough in some areas though, like west of the Brookfield Zoo) and the I & M Canal are quite shallow. However...- hec60504

The water around Cal Sal is shallow, so it's usually calm. It's also warm - maybe around 80 degrees, or possibly even warmer. It's survivable if someone was conscious and could swim... I just really wonder what he struck? One of the rocks on Cal Sal itself?- hec60504

LE cannot always just release an individuals phone records - those records are private and only belong to the individual who made the calls and the phone company. Some states have laws in this regard... So, I'm sure the police have had to obtain a subpoena to get them.- hec60504

I wonder what he struck? I used to live in Marathon, and had been to Cay Sal - something large enough to sink an ocean-going catamaran? Unusual. Maybe the flotsam from a cargo ship? Cook County Inmates Now Have Pizza Delivery
Years ago in college I had to take a tour of Cook County Jail with my Criminal Justice class: Strip-searched before we could even go in! While we were there the women started rioting, and they had to lock down part of the jail.<modsnipped>- hec60504
