Its a wellness check. You call the police, let them know the situation, in this case Gabbys dad was concerned about her, hasn't heard from her. The police go to the house to see if they physically see her to see if she's ok. I've had to do this with my own daughter.

I agree. Imo, reasons she rented the car... To dispose of evidence and go unnoticed or to move Gannon and go unnoticed. I cannot think of any other reason for the rental car.
