    I think "field" was simply a poor choice for a descriptive word.. something like "sparse desert terrain" or "empty area" or "hardpack flat ground" might have been more suitable imho

    well, as someone who hiked out in that area looking for her, it was too hot to walk from her last reported sighting to essex. So the "maybe someone took her" theory comes into play.     As I recall, the vi said the sheriff's had proof she was there..a photo I presume. That's why the extended search.

    a quick google shows no updates that i could find. The last newspaper article says the sister found pants with blood on them.. wouldn't police have kept that as evidence? Which means they either didn't search or didn't find them if they did search.

    newspaper photos of her car showed snow.. the little roof her boots were found also had about 4 inches of snow.

    just a little over a football field and a half from the cabin..that's a long way to go barefoot and with snow on the ground. I think the concussion played a part. I am sorry for her and the family..may she rest in peace.

    did the old phones work / have minutes on them? Because I have every phone I've ever owned in a box somewhere. they would be at my main residence not a vacation home too.

    There is no cell service there. One explanation for photos of Barb there then her not being there is an accomplice took her.
