Thanks to you OP websleuthers for your commentary and allowing me to catch up. I can't believe I missed the proceeding after the long wait. Haven't been on here since the main trial but pleased to see old crowd still in attendance :-)

Is this supposed to be the Judge's last case? If the State does intend to appeal, I wonder if they have chosen not to indicate this during sentencing to allow the Judge to wrap things and exit proceedings without further ado.

Yes. 5 years, though parole may make that stay a fair bit shorter.

I don't disagree with your description of Pistorius at all, but don't feel the hate some do :-) I'm not judging anyone's reactions on here, especially those who have suffered DV. Was trying to relate my own experience of having watched the trial unfold. Sorry didn't have time to articulate...

I might be in the minority here, but during sentencing, I felt like a voyeur for the first time during the trial, and uncomfortable as a result. I should state that I believe Pistorius shot Reeva in a rage, and must face the consequences of his actions, and these have to be a lengthy stretch...

I think Nel is doing well so far. Whether this affects Massipa's sentencing remains to be seen.

Oh FFS, of course he's going to say that re. the money. It's either genuine, or it's to impress the court. The defence can't prove it either way, so why state it.
