UK - Layton Carr 14, tragically died from a fire incident, 14 children aged 11-14 arrested on suspicion of manslaughter, Gateshead. 2 May 2025

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c9vev8yyn4ko.amp It would seem like it's a magnet for youths. I don't think they care what they set on fire, even if it is somewhere they hang out. There's a wooded area near us, and kids are always setting it alright, even though they have dens etc.

UK - Sycamore Gap tree at Hadrian's Wall 'felled overnight', Sept 2023 *arrests*

Phew! I never really had any doubt they'd be found guilty, but you never know. Let's hope for the biggest sentence they're allowed.

I imagine not, I think it was probably a tragic accident but the 14 may have been involved in what caused the accident. If that makes sense.

Thank you for posting StillDiggin, I came to see if there was a thread for Layton. Absolutely tragic for the family. I am sure those arrested are also devastated. I wonder if any of them will actually be charged.

They remind me of teenage lads who think they're cool for being bad. Infuriating. My parents have gone to Sycamore Gap today for a walk. It seems strange calling it that now. I know the stump is there but it's not quite the same.

I know no one was killed or harmed in this incident but it makes me so angry that they cut down our beautiful tree 😔

Found Deceased Jenny Hall, 23, described as a keen long distance runner, vehicle located on the B2678 between Eggleston & Stanhope, County Durham, Feb 18 2025.

My friend's cousin did the same. She unfortunately didn't change her mind, and her body was found a few days later.

UK UK - Melanie Hall, 25, Bath, Somerset, 9 June 1996

In a way I'm not surprised that it took so long to find her. Driving in the UK, I always see areas at the sides of main roads that don't look like anyone ever goes there. Due to being interested in true crime, I often think that there are a lot of places someone could dump a body, and it not be...

I don't have much to add here, but I live in the north east so this case is close to home. And I'm a runner. Today it is very windy, with 40mph gusts. It will not be pleasant up there searching for her. With the little info we have, I sadly think this is a self harm case. I really hope I'm...

Found Deceased UK - Stephen Simmons, 62, last sighted on CCTV in Saint Luke’s Terrace area of Pallion, Sunderland, outside Downey’s store around 9.32am, 6 April 2023

That's so sad. I wonder where he's been for the last few months. At least the family may now get some answers.

Absolutely gutted! I live in the north east and have been lucky enough to visit - before some idiot cut it down. I have no words but I do hope that if this 16 year old is involved, he is named and shamed once convicted. And that he feels shame for the rest of his life.

Powerful earthquake hits Morocco, killing at least 2,901 people, 8 Sept 2023

I am still devastated for those in the High Atlas Mountains. I have been lucky enough to visit twice and it is such a beautiful part of the world, with everyone I met being so friendly and welcoming. So many deaths, and people's homes turned to rubble. I wish I could go to help but...
