Yes. When my father passed away, we didn't find him until a couple of days later. The coroner determined that he died two days prior, but his death certificate and obit have date of death as the day we actually found him. It has always irked me.

I served on a Grand Jury years ago and IIRC, cases were kept confidential. All that was released to public was the decision on whether there was enough evidence for trial.
Sorry if this has been answered, I'm trying to catch up here. The missing/murdered woman from Ville Platte was Elizabeth Fontenot. Her vehicle was found burned. Her killer, Ordesto Toussaint was convicted of Murder 2. He was sentenced to (mandatory) life. I'm not sure about the other two bodies...
