I had the very same thought- I have a deaf daughter and a CODA grandson this hits hard- The deaf community is tight they said he went to that bar often- only makes sense that he knows who would be there.

The family said the girls would not have called the person the phone number belonged to, if they were in trouble they would have called 911.

Honestly, I think having it confirmed this way in this setting is the most honest way to hear- and not sanitized/impersonal as a police report would have been.

I did, and we never heard anything to think otherwise.
