They haven't been granted immunity from prosecution. The court orders require them to testify against each other. The "immunity" refers to the fact that information they provide in the other person's case can't be used against them in their own case.
Former Portuguese police chief Goncalo Amoral says Madeleine McCann suspect is in German prison
Goncalo Amaral stated in November 2019 that a German pedophile was suspected in the case. He said the man had been cleared as a suspect in 2008, but was later found to have committed other sex...
Yes, Bible Hill is the closest detachment - the first officers on the scene would have been dispatched from Bible Hill. You can see on Google Maps street view that it's a relatively large detachment for a rural area, but on a Saturday night they would have had only a handful of officers on duty...
At the press conference, they said the 3rd vehicle was located at his residence in the Halifax Regional Municipality. His denture clinic in Dartmouth was also his residence, and Dartmouth is within the Halifax Regional Municipality.
I imagine the first few RCMP officers in Portapique focused on attending to the immediate scene and blocking off the main road. If they arrived in Portapique at 10:26pm, as they reported in Friday's press conference, it seems like it would have been well after 11pm before they had enough...
I don't think we have enough information to analyze or be critical of the RCMP's response, especially in terms of timing when we have absolutely no timeline for the specific events in Portapique. We have no idea how much time passed from the injured man spoke with RCMP to when officers found the...
IIRC, he told the RCMP that GW was heading south on Portapique Beach Road - further into Portapique and toward his home. It seems that the RCMP very quickly identified GW as a suspect and learned that he had police-like cars, so there was an explanation for the man's story.
Just to be completely in line with what the RCMP have stated, the 4th vehicle was registered but not plated. The press conference video clip is here - skip to 47:35:
Can you see how irresponsible it would have been to vaguely alert the public that a shooting was committed by someone in a car that *may* have looked like a police car? Especially when all the evidence in front of them pointed toward the suspect no longer having access to a police-like vehicle...
I'm not trying to be argumentative at all, but what reason would they have to notify the public their suspect had shot someone from a police-looking car if they no longer believed him to be driving it? It sounds like they very quickly identified their suspect and located all of his known police...
Yes, it does seem that they knew from very early on that GW *had been* driving some sort of police vehicle when he shot the surviving victim, but they had no reason to believe that he was still driving one because all three of his known vehicles were accounted for (two burning in Portapique, one...
The info appears to be correct, but it seems that they interpreted "what looked like a police car" to mean one of GW's unmarked white Ford Taurus, rather than a perfect replica of an RCMP car. Once they accounted for all three of his cars, it sounds like they didn't think he had another police...
<modsnip: quoted post was removed>
According to this CBC article, another single gunshot was heard shortly after 8am. The neighbour who heard it didn't call 911, but went to investigate and turned around when another neighbour told him the house was on fire and there were "bullets flying." Some...
I've been wondering whether anyone heard from Sean McLeod or Alanna Jenkins on Sunday morning, but haven't seen anything definitive one way or the other. It occurred to me that he may have arrived there in the middle of the night and killed them, then stayed in their home until burning it down...
