Exactly. Something just sounds very off. If he was on the couch and woke up "alone and in the dark", he implies that JR, LD AND Joey were all sleeping in JR's bed....I don't think so. It's a one bedroom apt, right? Also, since MG and LD are ROOMMATES, don't you think he would have not left...
