He came to help the A's when media and bashers bombarded the A's home. He is a private investigator but he didn't serve the A's in that capacity. He claims he offered to protect the A's from the angry crowds like a bouncer

I noticed in the depositions that CA would not just give short answers but would give up info in her long winded answers that only hurt her daughters case. The best deposition I saw in this case was Jim Hoover. He did a perfect job IMHO
