I really have to question this station's reporting, and I wonder if this isn't a case of either A) misrepresentation of what came out of the press conference or B) wishful thinking. Maybe a little of both.
I watched the whole press conference live, listened to all the questions and answers...
Yes, of course you're right. Here I was trying to clarify the confusion in differentiating between 182/90 and and managed to confuse 90/167! We have too many numbered highways running through this town.
Also, I concur with you -- she is not stopped in front of Circle K. That was the other...
If I'm not mistaken, I think I remember hearing someone say it was the camera which took the video of the hooptie and truck on University just north of St. Landry that was potentially 12 minutes off, not the ones on Versailles and St. Landry. Also, I'm not sure that was ever confirmed.
That's what I'm thinking. It's really not possible to arrive at a specific speed estimate without knowing the synchronization of the two different cameras. And in a short distance like that, even a few seconds here or there can wildly throw off the mph.
A couple of things: Just for clarity, keep in mind that U.S. 90 is not actually University Avenue -- U.S. 90 is Johnston Street. Highway 182 is University Ave.
I'm going to leave the calculations to someone more mathematically inclined, but keep in mind that there is always the possibility...
By "big highway intersection," I'm assuming you're referring to the intersection of University and St. Landry? Technically, University is Route 182 going through Lafayette, but it is really nothing more than a major street among many major streets in town, and at that time of night traffic can...
That's all well and good, but seeing as it's the ultimate goal of this forum to not only answer each other's questions but to help find Mickey, wouldn't it be easier for everyone here to do this, and wouldn't it be more likely that your video could aid in getting her back, if you would actually...
Just to be clear, before people start responding to your post: These pics are NOT from above the graveyard on University. These are the pics from St. Landry Street just down from the Circle K.
Have a good one.
One last thing I want to mention in case I forget, since I'm not sure how long I'll be able to log on tomorrow: There is an old gun-style camera at the very end of Azalea where it meets University, on the end of that strip of buildings that runs up and down University, across...
I agree -- the whole tone across Lafayette has been radically different these past 2 weeks. I think just about everyone can feel the tension.
Does knowing the truck appears on at least one more camera make you feel more confident about your parking lot/Azalea St theory, Chicken? It stands...
I can absolutely follow you on your theory here -- it's perfectly logical. Of course, the tragic offshoot to the theory, though, which gives me a somber feeling, is that if someone dropped a weighted body in that area, there's a very high probability that it will never be found, unless they...
Yes, and of course now we all have to wonder just how much more video they have...and of whom or what. But I was certainly hoping they had more to go on than just one shot -- I think that's a good thing.
New article from The Advertiser includes an interesting new admission:
Image in front of Circle K "and another shot of the truck that has not been released were used to definitively identify the vehicle." Wow -- sounds like that truck might indeed have shown up on either one of those cameras...
