Maybe his partner/wife got suspicious and he had had to commit more to his other life. Maybe she thought he was cheating or something and might have began following him when he was out.

The guy inside is much broader than the one outside and most blokes have similar haircuts. There is similarities but not relevant to either images IMO. I think its a beer and he checking to see how much he got left.... one skull or two left.... before he gets another one... possibly....

He looks rather out of place with it in his hand though, like he could be a social smoker therefore wouldnt really know how to hold it, i just think he looks a bit awkward with smoking habit like its theatrical.
