Not a "shred of evidence" then!

Did Oscar ever personally say he screams like a woman-- or was that just Roux's claim?

Didn't Nel request leave to appeal it and she denied it? Or am I imagining that?

And such a nut job. He may not have been found mentally incapacitated, but from reading Sam Taylor's mom's book, he has been emotionally unstable for a long time. Always been able to turn on the waterworks too. Not sure how it works in S.A. I am surprised Roux did not sue Sam Taylor's mom for...

Interesting. I think the forensics team working on technology for the State were able to determine that it had been last synced with a computer called "Titanium Hulk" and that had occurred shortly after the murder. As I recall, all of the WhatsApp messages, the call history and content of...

Well, since it was synced with Carl's computer ("Titanium Hulk") and the password had been changed, one would think Carl could have cooperated and been of some assistance in the matter-- or had his butt subpoenaed...

It was rumored that the State cut a deal with the defense not to prosecute Carl over the phone, something with respect to Botha I believe. Anyway, doubt we'll ever know for sure but they did not press charges against Carl for some reason when they easily could have. The police were not aware...

As far as I am concerned, Aimée and Carl were complicit in the crime by removing and tampering with evidence and Uncle Arnold has aided and abetted Oscar in helping him pervert the course of justice. I did have to respect Henke for refusing to claim ownership of the illegal ammo in Oscar's safe.

So far I think there are only about ten surnames in South Africa.

Thanks, Sherbet. I recall seeing that earlier and had a brief moment of optimism about how Masipa's approach to the obviously serious nature of a murder conviction was legally flawed. But that case was from 12 years ago and I keep reading more things about how the SA approach has continued to...

Excellent point. I am still galled that she chose to put words in their mouth (or certainly repurpose them) by saying they had both forgiven Oscar and were prepared to move on. Both Nel and Barry Steenkamp tried very hard to clarify what June had meant by saying "I have forgiven him" in the...

I am sure it was done as directed by Barry Roux. I say, didn't Pistorius have his "office" send the Steenkamps some flowers too? I am sure Masipa counted that as showing remorse as well.

I sure hope you are right. I worry that the SCA would have to find something legally "wrong" with her sentence though. Will it really meet their criteria of shockingly inappropriate? (It does mine!)

I have read somewhere in discussion of SA sentencing guidelines that the judge has so much leeway that if they find that imposing the minimum prescribed sentence would in and of itself present an injustice, then that alone constitutes a compelling and substantial circumstance. The legislation...

I noticed other instances where her words seemed to be scripted by Barry Roux. And I am sure Uncle Arnold very much feels like he has been pulling the strings all along, having paid dearly for the privilege. Hope his fertilizer price-fixing lawsuit costs him dearly too.
