Is it possible they lost his scent because he stripped off his clothing? I don't know much about search dogs. I'm leaning towards the theory that his weed was laced with something and he had some type of bad reaction and stumbled into the brush somewhere. I saw NBC and Dateline have picked up...

I just listened to a podcast about this today. You are right about the similarities

Yes, this is big. It changes my theory that he succumbed to his injuries and hasn't been found.

Well, the issue is how much. The tv station in Austin reported a "backpack filled with narcotics" family saying that isn't accurate. Some of use have been speculating that it was only a joint and the news station was sensationalizing but we don't know for sure

Interesting how the new flyer says investigators believe the driver walked away with little or no injury. That in addition to the disheveled look in the picture have me wondering if he had some type of episode?

Could he have thrown the backpack out the window before he crashed? IMO he was not heading home for the holidays. Something brought him down that desolate road. He was either meeting someone down there and something went terribly wrong or he wasn't in a good state of mind and went down there...

<modsnip> "Our deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends during this difficult time". This quote is pretty telling. I hope he didn't go out there to kill himself. It's the only other thing I can surmise seeing as how the family and friends are so quiet.. Either that or my first...

The I agree, and a glaring difficulty for me, is why have none of his friends or family come out and said anything? There has to be someone who saw him before the accident and could shed some light on what happened. It's eerily quiet. As far as the Venmo with college age kids. I can only...

My thoughts exactly. Or why wouldn't the family speak out?

I just drove by the Buccee's yesterday on the way to Houston. IMO there is no way he just "missed a turn" to get on IH10 unless he was impaired. You can't miss it, I don't care how dark it is. It if wasn't for terrible weather yesterday I would have checked out Salt Flat Rd.

Good point. But what if that kid in the old Nissan was got involved in some illegal dealings and the bad guy new he had a surplus of cash and they skipped the ATM?

I agree. Having his family, friends and LE so quiet leads to wild speculation on my part I guess. It's the only other thing I could come up with, that he was the victim of foul play somehow.

What if someone took him by gunpoint, had him empty his account with ATM card, and that person took his car and crashed it on the lonesome road? I've seen this on an episode of Dateline. It was really sad and they had the perp on ATM camera so they eventually caught him.
