I've said it before and I'll say it again... I am convinced that the whole plan was a thrill kill (MS has a machete he wants to use, DM has a farm, an incinerator, perhaps a proclivity for murder, and so on). The plan revolves around a test drive - it allows them to take a single human being...

I have a feeling that the video that alerted them (LE) to a second vehicle, may have only captured, for example, shadows of the vehicles, or reflections in a window. Enough to show a closely following vehicle, and pehaps a hint at the size and shape of it, but not enough to clearly identify it...

They may have seen and photographed the incinerator on Friday, but we don't know that they turned the information over to police the same day or later. Perhaps they contacted police after learning of DM's arrest? Miles/..
