Thank you! I sent them an email briefly explaining why I thought that was the most viable possibility. I also shared the links to the Google map view and the cold case that was solved that way. Hopefully they look over it and take it seriously. The father deserves to know what happened to his...

Do you know if there's any way to email tips to LE? I would like to suggest that they do sonar searches of water, but I'm too shy to call.

I wish that it was standard to search bodies of water for unexplained disappearances. So sad that the woman had to live over 40 years not knowing what happened to her dad.

It seems that if someone went into that body of water, there would be some damage to the guardrails. Or were there no guardrails in 1977?

Other explanations for their appearance don't seem very likely to me. 1) Voluntary disappearance. Leslie Guthrie didn't give any indications of preparing to go anywhere. Usually people do not leave voluntarily, while leaving most of their money and possessions at home. While separated, the...

Another thing is, since they disappeared in the winter, if they did go into water, their chances of getting out unharmed would be lower. Hypothermia and cardiac arrest from going into ice cold water are very likely....

I wonder if LE has conducted any searches of bodies of water? What would it take to find a vehicle without active searching? Lowering of the water level? I remember this case where they found the car and bodies 43 years later...

I agree! Personally, I think that since the vehicle has never been recovered, the most likely explanation for their disappearance was probably a simple vehicular accident involving water. Also, they disappeared in the wintertime and roads tend to be more slick in the winter.

There is some height discrepancy, though. While it's possible for a 15 year old girl to grow 4 more inches, it's really not all that probable.

I sent an email to LE, asking if this case had ever been ruled out. The composite looks very similar to Kathy's photo. http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1195ufmi.html

I've been following the Facebook page for baby Melissa and there is a girl who looks very similar to one of the composite drawings. She also has a birthmark in the same place as baby Melissa, doesn't have any baby pictures of herself from before age 1-2, and her little girl pictures look very...

It seems like LE usually assumes that missing teens are runaways unless proven otherwise.

I looked at the sketch and at Kibby and I think that the sketch is fairly accurate in a lot of details. The face, ears, and nose are very similar for example.

How could she possibly walk home from his house, especially in her condition? His city is about an hour from her hometown. Did someone give her a ride home?

Oh my, this is crazy! Poor girl, that's amazing that she survived, if she was held in a shipping container for 9 months. It's amazing that we have a society where psychopaths can detain kidnapped people in broad daylight like this.
