100% agree. IMO Google likely doesn't want to admit they are retaining video far longer than their policies/agreements state they are. Thus the claim that the video was recovered through some kind of elaborate forensics process.

That's because they have no local storage and any video recoved is not magically done with forensics... Either Google has a backup of the video on their servers or they don't. At most they would need to find and decompress the video. The other possibility is that the cameras just don't work...
