i emailed with LE on this. they know it to be a tattoo and not marker, etc.

the grateful dead tie-in is a good one but grateful doe is 5'8" and this guy is 6'. also, they estimate grateful doe to be 16-21. the wanted man was 30 in 1995. stranger things have happened, though.

well, i'm interested to know if the rumor that the family did call LE is true or not. also, i think the note reads: Caroline T and Caroline D (not Caroline O) but that is discussed in the topic on the note.

i know reports were that the shoes were new and in the photos they look warn. i wonder if they *were* new but were burned badly?

i also looked into the HIM connection, thinking jason doe might be from finland. but, HIM was a very small band when the accident happened. he would've had to have been a VERY early fan. in fact, the logo would have been first created the year jason died.

i asked the handwriting expert that question. the expert said no, they were written by the same person. note the "l" in caroline. that is made in a very odd way. the chance that different writers both made that same strange "l" is very low.

could be jerry garcia?
